R50/53 How far would you drive your Mini
Probably not. I'm not sure I'd drive across the country, either. Once you've broken down once (which I have) it strikes you just how inconvenient that process could be if you were far from home. So, until there's more time between me and that breakdown, I'm not wandering more than 200 miles or so from home. It's sad, but true....
Don't get me wrong, I love my MINI. BUT... I don't love it more than I hate being severely inconvenienced.

Sure, I'd drive around the world if I had the opportunity to do something so much fun and exciting. I think I would get pretty lonely crossing those oceans though. . .
Is it true that MINI's float?

... one word answer? ... YES ...
.... but after reading a few books like "Jupiter's Travels" , i know it to a formidably task, and one would have to pack carefully ... but given the opportunity (time off from work, and other trivialities .... ), i'd leave tomorrow!
... and there are some people that are brave enough to live states away from their dealership - and probably feel like they are starting on an around the world trip just to get an oil change ... but you all know BMW is looking out for you, where ever you are ...

I have gone on some longish trips 1.5k to 2.5k miles five times now. Picked up the car on 28 Sep 02. I enjoy long trips. I once drove a 62 Healey 3000 from DC to Tuskalusa (sp?) Al, to Melborne, FL and back to DC. I fitted the car with a hard top and late model MG Midgit seats, but the side curtans (no roll up windows) and windshield still leaked. I feel better in the MINI than in that car.
Yeah, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Coincidentally, I was planning on leaving So Cal this very morning at 5 a.m. and take a 2,000+ mile round trip to Randy BMC to have him do some work for me. However, his wife is ready to 'pop' at any moment so he thought we'd better hold off until next week or the week after. Who knows, after he does the mods for me I might not turn around and come back. I'll keep you updated if I decide to go all the way.

With regard to the actual topic at hand, a drive around the world would be quite intersting....espically if it were a entire mini rally!
With regard to the topic title "How far would you drive your mini?" I would have to say that with the constant racing, high revs and hard corners I have driven my mini---- to drink.... da..dum..tssssssss......

As far as I had time for. I've driven a fully-loaded 26' moving van from Boston to Seattle (about 3100 miles, including side trips) single-handedly, and the Mini would be way more fun than that!
The real question is, when I get into any other car now, how far do I have to drive this piece of junk for before I can get back to my Mini?!?!
