if i were to get a Evo i would save the money and get the Evo GSR with the manual and add all the factory goodies and have money left over for stuff like boost hard pipe kit and stuff
Hogwash!
Left foot automatic braking FTW!
No other way to get a good launch in an auto! Who cares if it fries the torque converter eventually...
....whellll... take it from someone who knows based on before & after experience. There's no replacement for displacement. My best launch in my C43/55 is right off idle.

Haha! Yeah, you remind me of a thread on Acurazine (Acura forum, duh). This guy was talking about doing 4K launches on an auto with the 2 foot technique and some other crazy stuff. People were like umm...what the hell are you doing!

Back in the early days of turbo charged road cars it was almost a required ability to brake left-footed, while keeping the gas pedal on the floor all the way to the apex for fear of losing boost !
Of course this was a tad harsh on the transmission and brakes, but the alternative was to find yourself mid-corner with 40hp (as opposed to 400hp) and not enough drive to allow you to correct anything, or even worse the jump from 40-400hp at the wrong moment.
By keeping the engine loaded at least you had predictable power on the exit.
I actually found myself slipping into LFB mode when I drove a DSG equipped car with ultra-fast paddle operated changes it was a delight and extremely involving.
On the track - where DSG truly shines, many gear-changes are sequential, but the pre-selection abilities of some of the more sophisticated gearboxes are amazing - pull back three times because you know that you are dropping three gears at the end of the braking, mash the brake pedal, turn in and back onto the power in the correct gear FTW.
If Mini come out with a DSG equipped 'S' I will be in the line to drop a deposit on one......
Yeah that would be pretty sweet. I wouldn't even consider getting an auto unless it had legit paddle shifters with DSG. I want to be engaged, thats the bottom line. Left foot braking sounds so awkward!
