forgive me as I am a noob to this whole new mini world. I recently purchased a 2004 mini and it just came with the valet key. My question. Will I have to go to a mini dealer to get a key that has the built in remote functions? If so how
much will it be? Thank you

 

I am a newbie to the Mini, but on my BMW 740i [back in 1998] I got a key. Special cut that required them sending to BMW for it. I think it was about $90 or so. Did not have a remote in it, I don't think.

Yes, you have to go to a Mini dealer.

Yes, they are expensive. I would venture to guess about $150 or so nowadays.

But others can chime in on cost.

I think your valet key will suffice for them to get the code for the key to make [order].

I do NOT believe the keys are in stock at the dealership. They are more complex now.

That's what I suspect.

 

More than 150, over 200 likely. Try doing a search, I know I have read the price in other threads.
