R50/53 Onboard computer hosed?
Onboard computer hosed?
I have the computer thing on my car... you know, the thing that tells you how many miles you can go with what gas is remaining, speed, average MPH, etc...
One of the displays (I think it's the MPG, I have one that reads MPG and average MPG I think) goes crazy! It'll flash all different numbers only to stop on 99.9.
Anyone know how to fix or reset this? I tried the reset function on the button where you hold it in and set all to the -.-- display, but it still just goes crazy on that one setting...
Hope I explained it correctly.

Well, the instantaneous MPG reading (not the average MPG) will naturally jump all over the place, since it's updating itself continually (well, not really continually - it's more like once per second).
Whenever you have your foot off of the throttle with the car moving, it will jump up to 99.9. With the car not moving, the display should read --.-. Changing the throttle position at all (like speeding up a little bit to pass someone) will make a huge difference in the instantaneous MPG reading.
Even if you have cruise control turned on, the reading will still vary a little bit as the car adjusts the throttle to maintain speed (unless you happen to be on a perfectly-flat road with no wind).
In other words, it sounds like your instantaneous display is working correctly. Frankly, I've never found it very useful, just because it's so sensitive.
