Just bought an '05 MCS
I've had it for 2 weeks now and really love it. It's one of the best engineered cars that I have ever owned. Really like the engine and the handling. Opts are 6 spd, DSC, 17's, sport suspension. I stepped down (up?) from a full size chevy Silverado 4x4 which I really liked but was getting tired of paying over $100 to fill the tank. I was a bit unsure about going to such a drastically smaller vehicle but now I couldn't be happier. Haven't even looked at the truck which is sitting for sale in the driveway. I've had a Boss Mustang, a Scirocco, Prelude, Toyota 4x4, and so on but this is my favorite vehicle so far. The only one that comes close was my 85 toyota, what a great truck that was! Sorry for the love-in but I really like the car!
i hope you enjoy yours as much as i enjoy mine...
there's a wealth of info here, but search is tough for me
when i'm looking for needles in this haystack i use google
from the google main screen i pick the little "advanced search" link, and then
there's a box in the advanced search screen that says 'search in domain:' and into that box i type northamericanmotoring.com
that let's google look in this site only, which works better for me than the search located here
cheers,
charlie

I hope you had a lot of fun with your new MINI and I'm sure you'll have many more memorable experiences with her or him!
I am the original owner of a 2005 MCS which I bought brand new over 3 years ago. I still love the car as much as the day I drove it home from the dealer.

Right along with you! We've had Winnie since mid 2/08. Since we live 180 miles away from the closest dealer/service center people thought I was nuts, until they drive her. I wish I was getting a kickback on all of the people I've convinced MINI is the way.
Welcome, Jolson.
Nice car. Say, those look like BC plates. There are a couple of MINI clubs in the Vancouver area you can join that will help you get motoring, including signing up track days and car rallys and various show n shines happening.
Just be careful about when the mod bug hits

Seriously, as you have probably already found out ...the MINI has more leg room than most SUVs and when you fold the seats down they hold a ton of stuff. Mine gets used regularly as a MINI pickup truck.
Enjoy.
I think the thing I like best about the car so far is the mechanical feel of it. The way it feels attached to the road is just something that I can't get over. Jumping into the minivan after driving the mini feels like trying to drive a pillow. 2nd best thing I like about it is the engine, love the way it builds revs so freely, really enjoy the pull through the mid-range. The whole drive is just a really great experience. Dislikes? Not liking the run-flats much, I have a new set on the front and older ones on the back and I get quite a bit of reasonance from the rear end. I'm assuming its the tires and not the bearings. I'll have to switch the backs for the fronts and see if that makes a difference. Can't wait to get out and try a track day or an autocross if I can find one.
In case you hadn't already noticed, anything Mini on this website is practically a love-in!Welcome & happy motoring.
Copycat! J/K I am sure there are like 50 Winnie's on this board =)
Oh ya, another thing I like are the xenon's. My truck had great lights and the xenon's are actually better, at least they were once I re-aimed them a bit higher. Thanks to the Invaluable post on xenons that I read here somewhere.
Hi Jolson, I just bought my 2005 MCS today! I went from a 2003 Avalanche with 22" all around. The gas was killing me as well. I'm in the Seattle area and will pick up my mini the day after Memorial Day. We both did the right thing getting mini coopers.
