Don't waste your money........just get a 2.0L from Jan and have him work his magic. I am sure high 200's hp would be no problem and a he!! of a lot cheaper.
I have no idea to tell you the truth. I doubt it's just a straight swap. But I bet it is a lot simpler than the SRT-4 motor simply b/c of less wiring. as far as mounts though to tell you the truth I haven't really looked in the 2nd gen engine bay, but if people dualcharge the r53 I don't see why the swap couldn't be done. Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm just curious for the sake of my own knowledge now
Completely different engines, ECU, fuel system. Just go for a built OEM, much easier and cheaper and fully capable of getting into the high 200's hp (or even more....... )

Hasn't been done and won't be done. They are completely different motors.
Money can buy you anything, though. Blastolene Brothers build hand built aluminum bodied cars powered by tank engines converted to propane. Some guy built a 40's era sedan powered by a 360 Stradale drivetrain. Need I remind anyone of this:

So are the honda f22 and h22 motors but people swap those all the time. Does anyone have an idea of what it would take to put the R56 motor, the N14, in the R53 chasis in place of the W11? even though that question sounds like a ricer question...

The way I see it, there is nothing wrong with this kind of swap. I also see nothing wrong with a honda b series swap into a mini. People buy minis because of the way the look and the way they handle, not because of the raw power, but try and find a similar priced car that will drive as good and be as fun as a mini but have the power of an srt4. As far as I know, it doesn't exist. There is no difference in my opinion between putting an srt4 engine in a mini than putting a big turbo or twin charge on one. Why not have the best of both worlds? handling and power...what a concept. Also remember that we are using the same engines that are in neons...just with better internals.
I would be curious to see how it would perform with some major suspension mods.
They are similar blocks, but not the same. They didn't just bore out the mini engine to a 2.4l.
myke@RPI obviously the 2nd gen motor hasn't been put in the 1st gen yet. so it looks like you are on your own... I looked up some stuff on the two cars wiring and dimensions of motor/trans. It doesn't appear to be to hard. I couldn't tell about the mounting points or weather or not the hydraulics for the clutch or linkage itself was any different. Best bet would be to look at yours and then a newer one side by side and check it out.
