R50/53 "Italian Job" MINI Coopers from Johnny Lightning!
Has anyone seen the new Johnny Lightning "Italian Job" MINI diecast models? They're about the size of a Hot Wheels car. Of course, there is a white and blue MINI and a red "S" model.
Anyone else seen them?

Here's a link to the Johnny Lightning web site. They have a pic up of the white car in it's packaging....

Also, if you want to see all of them, just do an ebay search using "Johnny Lightning" and "Italian Job" as your search keywords.

Those are cool, I have a Red 1:18 scale that I have had for a while. Thought I was going to get a red mini...but ended up with IB instead...like that much better. Now I need to find some IB models, and those little ones will do the trick. Now to try to find them at local stores.

I just opened this thread to respond, and I see that I responded with something wierd earlier today??? I swear I did not post that - interesting......
Anyway - my real response is those Italian Job models are very cool and are hard to find in stores - at least here in So Cal. We had a good friend find them for us and send them....

There are at least 3 series of these that I know of. 1 series is in plastic packaging, and 2 have paper cards. Some have the road grime and others do not.
A bit expensive for a matchbox car at $4 each (Target/Walmart), but I guess they had to pay for the IJ movie licensing, etc.

The "clean" IJ MINIs came in two releases, the first with metal bottoms the second with black plastic.
The "dirty" IJ MINIs come with just the black plastic.
Johnny Lightning has released 7 other MINI Cooper variations with not so accurate color combinations:
- Green S with White Top
- Dark Silver S with White Top
- Blue S with White Top
- Black with Union Jack Top
- Red S with White Top
- Yellow S with Black Top
and
- Blue with Black Top.
Although most are discontinued, you can find them on sites like:
http://www.tinywheels.com/
or http://www.diecastwarehouse.com/
I just realized how sad I am for knowing all of this. You should see my cube at the office.

I got lucky!
I happened to walk into a ToysRUs about 6 months ago and there they were...all three! (...the clean ones.) Of course, I bought the set. The thing I don't like about the JL MINIs (...at least all the ones I've seen) is that the clear plastic packaging puts a nice (not) crease right down the roof. Other than that, they look great all lined up. I contemplated building a diorama of the subway stairs but 1) I'm trying to have a life (...not much luck) and 2) the display would really show off that lovely roof crease.
The Johnny Lightning "Italian Job" series came out last year, but you can still find them in the stores if you are lucky. I am buying up all the red ones I can find as it is identical to my MINI... except for the wheels.
I am taking a road trip to TX next week from FL and I plan to stop at a few Toys 'R Us along the way trying to find more.
