Next week I'm going to bite the bullet and get rally lights put on. I've done a lot of research here at MCO, thanks for everyone's postings.

It seems that everyone who has them, loves them. It also seems that you can go with the factory Rally Lights or lots of people recommend PIAA. The PIAA seem to be less expensive but some claim better quaility.

But I also heard a lot of people say Rally Driving Lights rattle. Is this for all of them or just PIAA. Or is it just who installs them.

So can anyone tell me if theirs rattle and what type they got.

Thanks.

  They don't rattle at all. I've seen lots of the PIAA lights on MINI's too and they do look sharp.

Chow!

Mine don't rattle but they do vibrate every so often e.g. rough roads.

I can tell because when the lights are on, you can see a little vibration from the spot light. Otherwise the lights are great.

Did you guys get the Madness lights or the factory lights from Sterling?

I'm down for the Madness lights -- hopefully in a couple of weeks!

The lights shouldn't rattle....if they do, somethings not right. However, vibration is an entirely different story. All of the lights will vibrate some. The smaller ones will normally only do it on the bumps. The larger ones are a lot more prone to vibration all of the time. It's due in part to the mounting system is basically not stable attaching to the grill like it does. The other problem is that the mounts are too flexible. If MINI had used a thicker gauge metal on the brackets many of the vibration problems would have been solved.

I'm getting ready to pull mine off again and have some metal added to the brackets to stiffen them up some.

teldon - we got the factory lights from Sterling because Mike likes our cars to have as much "Original" stuff as possible...

Completely understand that sentiment. I was hooked when I saw the metal cages on the Madness lights in the showroom however.

My personal view of Minis is that they have contrasting roof colors and driving lamps -- oh and sunroofs.
