R50/53 MINI Deposit for Ordering?
JR BMW in Dallas clearly states $1K NON-REFUNDABLE deposit on S w/ ~ 5 mo. wait. Fairly disgusting given the fact that the sales staff are simply taking orders w/o ever having to really sell the cars. It would appear that this non-refundable scheme is simply a means to potentially extract an incremental $1K of profit by selling the ordered vehicle to a different buyer, should original buyer balk before delivery. Then, there's the fact that this dealer is currently charging ~ +2K > sticker for any in-stock S; obviously, this is simply an example of supply & demand in action..
jblow ----> JR BMW is being inappropriate, I'd say. Motor City MINI "recommends" a $500 deposit, which is 100% refundable at any time. Sounds like JR BMW is just being greedy, which is definitely not the MINI-way. You may desire to search for a nicer dealership.
