R50/53 Best reaction to my MINI to date...
So I'm turning out of my neighborhood onto one of those Suburban boulevards to get out to the bank. As I round the corner and get up to speed, a girl, 13-15 years old, I'd say, comes running down her driveway arms wide like she was going to give a big ol' hug to Izzy. I thought it was cool. Please add some of your own good reactions. We seem to be focusing a bit on negative MINI comments today.
I had a 16-year old guy staring as I turned down a side street. He was still on the block when I came around to park on that street. As he approached, I'm smiling, thinking he's going to say something nice........He asked my how much I paid for it. that's it.
Yes lets focus on the positive comments...I've had a lot and it always makes me feel good.
One night I was in a parking lot in front of hooters and this lady drives by and stops right next to me and ask if she can sit in my car, I say sure so she gets out of her car and runs to my MINI with a huge smile on her face and sits inside. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. She tells me how much she likes MINIs and how she wants one and stuff...I guess I made her day
One time a while back a jetta full of girls stops next to me in another parking lot and they all ask if they can sit in the car
I've also had a lot of people wave and smile

1) Got a "thumbs up" from two cuties on the highway a week ago. Made my day!
2) Driving acoss an intersection, this wild woman waiting at the light in a pickup truck starts honking her horn and waving. Boy she was excited! (...maybe a girl waiting for her MINI...they're nuts, you know.)
3) My MINI strategically parked in covered parking at the airport for a few days. It got dusty, but someone wrote "Awesome Car!" in the dust on the rear window. I waited a few hours before washing the car just for fun.
I'm so glad MINIs are the kind of car that illicits some genuinely cheerful and/or enthusiastic responses from folks. IMHO, the whole "overpowering street-menace" thing is juvenile, boring, and ill-advised. The world is menacing enough.

today, honking from truckers, stares, pointing, smiling from others (everyday)
yesterday, thumbs up from a trucker plus yelling questions to me through the sunroof, positive comments from a gas station attendent
I get much more positive feedback than negative. It's a unique car, that's why we like it, of course it will attract attention!
I love my MINI!!

OK, I've got to add something about getting attention from girls........
driving down the freeway, didn't notice the car on my left for a moment, then I see that my dog is really excited about something. She's standing on the hand brake and looking with her happy face at the car passing us . There's a car full of teen girls looking back with big smiles. I'm female so I know they weren't looking at me.......but maybe my cute dog?

Man, I don't think I would have the time to write every story I have about my first month with my MINI.
I got front row parking at a baseball game. The lot guys loved it and wanted to look at it. So they let me drive all the way up front and park in the VIP section.
But I think the best one was when I was at a stoplight in Las Vegas.
Some guy stoped right in front of my car in the crosswalk.
He proceed to yell...."That is the Coolest F***'n car" Then he kissed the hood!

Was the guy drunk?
One time a bmw drove by me and this drunk girl in the back seat said to me in her drunken slured speech "Hey I like your car can I drive it"

There's a group of 12-15 year old kids that hangs out a lot on the side street near my place, skateboarding and playing hockey and stuff. The first time I drove by in the MINI, they all lined up on the curb and APPLAUDED as I drove by!
The way I take to work routinely gets me behind a school bus, but that's okay because if I'm right behind the bus, I end up with about nine kids crammed into the rear windows, pointing and waving and trying to get me to honk!
I have yet to have one single negative comment yelled at me about the car.

as i'm pulling out of the lot, 2 young guys in the mcdonald's lot pointed and shouted excitedly

Not a week goes by when I am not approached by someone who wants to talk to me about HARMINI. I am STILL surprised at how this car appeals to all people from all walks of life.
Old ladies, in particular, love my car. "If I was 20 years younger, that would be the car I'd drive," was what one 70-something year old woman told me in a parking lot. I told her it was easy to drive and comfortable. She could still get one. She looked sadly over at her SUV and said she couldn't get in/out of little cars easily anymore
On the ride down to Camden to see the Dead last month, my best friend and I were in HARMINI, while her husband and his 3 buddies were in the car in front of us. We were in the left lane on the Tpke, when she noticed some gesturing coming from the backseat of the car in the far right lane. What a hoot!!! 3 teenage boys, maybe 16 or 17 yrs old, were gesturing to us, hands held up like they were talking on the phone and they were mouthing "call me" and blowing kisses. All this done with the oblivious mom and dad in the front seats.
In my neighborhood, the young guys cultivate that gangsta look. Some of them look really menacing, until they see my car and bust out with a big smile. I had one who stopped in his tracks, took a good long look and with full body expression of approval, threw down his hand, did a little dance step and said "yeah".

The only thing I really get regularly is the how much question but the other day I did have a bit more of an interesting expirience with it.
I pulled up to the pump at a gas station, and there happened to be a guy there trying to wash people's windows for money. He was occupied elsewhere when I started to fill my tank. But then just as I got back in he MINI he comes running over and up to my window and says, "Hey this is a really nice car." He then proceeds to ask how much it costs and who makes it and what not and then when he's finally done with all his questions he says to me, "If it's alright with you I'd really like to wash your windshield, you don't have to pay me or anything I just want to do it." I thought yeah right and proceeded to get out some change anyway, but when he was done, he just backed away from the car and refused the money! I couldn't believe it, I almost feel kinda bad.

Have had so many great experiences in my past 6 weeks.
A lot of kids running to the curb yelling and pointing. Shouting out Mr Bean , Mr Bean. Not sure if that is good or not  Had a group of kids actually stick there head in the window and ask how much.
But mostly pointing and big big smiles, at least once every day.
Have got several emails at work "please please take me for a ride" from ladies I thought did not even know my name.
I luv my MINI

I've had Mouse almost a year now. Many good experiences but the best was at the mini-mart down the street from me. I pulled in at the same time as a new 'vette convertible. There was a van full of sweet young things stocking up before going to the lake. The 'vette driver (tan, lean, way too cool for words) and I (50, semi-retired hippie) get out of our cars at the same time. The girls crowd around Mouse, ask all kind of questions and sit in the car. Ignored 'vette guy goes on into store. After the girls leave, I go into the store. Mr 'vette walks up, grins and says 'I hate you'. Made my day.

This is great! I love the skateboard kids in my neighborhood and to think of kids like that applauding you -- that's something!
and good to know you've not faced any negative comments!!
I have a model 1:18 Chili Red Cooper on my desk at work and all I get is nice comments! I can't imagine driving a MINI and the nice things people will say!

...that explains why they call it a MINI-mart!

My wife and I are driving to do a little shopping in the Fenway. We happen to get stuck in the middle of the end of the game Red Sox crowd, pouring out of the ballpark. This older dude comes up to the car (which had the windows down of course) and says "this is the new MINI right?" and grins from ear to ear. We're barely moving because the street is completely full of people, so next thing we know, his son scoots over, has us stop, Dad puts a hand on the door and junior snaps his picture with his cell phone cam! So somewhere we are wallpaper on a cell phone!! The best was at a stoplight, and a young girl pulled up alongside us. She yells "cute car.......Oh and YOU'RE CUTE TOO!" My wife was NOT amused!
