I did something stupid and now my MINI is in the body shop. Anyone else away from their MINI? I can't stand being away from Felix. I haven't been on MCO in a long while, but wanted to stop by and tell my story. All I can say is, I'm a *******.

Tell me your story.

Here's mine:
Last Friday, I was leaving for work in a hurry. Got in my MINI as usual and pushed the remote on my garage door to open it after situating myself in the car. Put my car in reverse and started backing out thinking that the garage door was almost to the top. It wasn't.... I heard this horrible sound and pulled out of the garage fully. The garage door was only partially up and it scraped my rear spoiler. That was the only damage to my MINI, luckily. I had to buy a new garage door and spent $700 on it. My car has been in the shop since last Friday, and they are supposed to be removing a couple other small scratches on it that bother me (the adjuster said that the scratches on my car were caused by debris from the road - Nashville roads suck). It turns out it's only going to cost me $130. Not too bad, but I don't feel too good that they are going to be taking Felix apart and repainting his spoiler. I just hope he's back to normal. Supposedly they are going to start working on him Monday so it will be early next week and we'll have spent more than a week apart. I know it's not a major deal and many people have had much worse situations but it's just so irritating that I messed my car up. I can be so stupid sometimes... and I miss my MINI!!!

I was without my MINI earlier this year having some minor hail damage repaired. I was w/o my car for less than a week, but it seemed like a month or two. I was beginning to forget how my MINI hugged the road...its nice, tight steering...its silky-smooth acceleration.........I was beeing sucked back into the realm of mediocrity by this stupid rental car (...no names)!!!

Thanks, jds... yeah, still kicking myself over the dumb situation. Teaches me to open the garage door first THEN get into my MINI.

Mine is at the body shop as well. I recently had the aero grills taken out and the chrome ones put back in. In the process of doing this, the tech manager to scratch up all the paint on the lower bumper with a screw driver. Now my bumper is being repainted. Should have the car back on Monday or Tuesday.

Yeah, that's what worries me, antsmini. In the process of repairing my car, what are they going to mess up? I know they aren't babying my car and it's out in the blazing heat...

I hate to hear they scratched up your bumper. No fear... we'll have our MINIs back soon enough...

Mine's getting it's bonnet worked on Monday - Wednesday next week, headlights replaced as well. Not looking forward to driving a rental vehicle either.

That brings up an interesting point, short of a go kart or formula ford, what options are there for MINI-like handling in a non-MINI?

I miss mine greatly. Had to leave it in the garage this morning and ride to work with the wife and nephew who is returning to Brazil this afternoon. Unfortunately, he had too much stuff to carry in a Mini and the wife really didn't want to drive the MCS anyway.

So, it's sitting at home... all alone... in the dark... <sniff-sniff>

Yes I've missed mine. I bought it used on June 4 and since then it's been at the dealer's 5 times for repairs, 4 of them because the Service Engine Soon light kept comng on. The last time it was there the dealer wrecked it. I just got it back today after 2 weeks in a body shop. Good bye uninspiring but free loaner Dodge!

Now I need to go for another drive to get this all out of my system. This may happen every day...

Rental options???? Hmmmm...that's tough 'cause only another MINI would suffice. Maybe a Miata (...fat chance) but then you lose cargo/passenger space. Nope, when it comes to rentals I think we'll be moving down the food chain.

I miss her so much. I don't feel complete anymore

I'm hoping to get her back in 2 weeks.

Hi Ryan,

So sorry to hear about Mr. Motor. My minor problems are pathetic in comparison. Oh, the joys of configuring your car!! Good luck with the new MINI!

Take care,

Karla

bloo will be in the shop for a week starting tomorrow. $1800 worth of damage when I bumped the driver's door into a pole. Airbags came out of seat and headliner so both have to be replaced. :???: Door has nice dent right in the middle

I'm already loathing the feeling of being "without". But I'll be glad when I can finally motor without the damn dent and ripped seat!

Hopefully be this time next weel bloo will ba good as new and I'll stick the Ralley lights on him.

after a pickup rear-ended me, mine was in the shop for 15 weeks. it was HELL. the POS nissan maxima rental i had barely fit in my garage. and it was terrible to drive. i got happy seeing any minis on the road, then terribly depressed - i wanted mine.

The great thing about missing your MINI (mine was with Tweeter for over three weeks) is how much fun it is when you get it back

hey, I miss mine every day while I'm away doing this called WORK. Really. I've never had this connection with a car before -- and this is 24th one I've owned.
