R50/53 Is it REALLY going to take almost 4 WEEKS to get my MINI on
My car was built as of 7/20, and I tracked it on the Wallenius shipping site, but to my dismay it's not supposed to leave England until 8/15!! I guess what I'm wondering is if anyone else has had a shipping date that far away from the time their car was built, and I'd also like to know if anyone has ever seen their Cooper get bumped up in the shipping process to an earlier voyage.
I also can't seem to track my car with only the last 7 digits of the VIN (TD72410)- I can only get the information by entering the whole VIN, which is contrary to what most of you have mentioned...
Thanks for any help!

Welcome to MCO!
This time of year -- at the end of the model year -- there tends to be quite a lot of cars at the dock in England...so yes, it really could take 4 weeks to get it on. On the other hand, my car (which was build just about this time last year) ended up being shipped before it was supposed to. So, "bumping up" can indeed occur.
At this point in the process, when your anxiety is getting greater as your car gets that much closer to delivery, it's too bad that the online data tends to get a bit shakey. Your best bet is to try calling MINIUSA once a week or so for the most accurate data (they have better data than the OL and can sometimes beat the info on the shipping site). This is particularly true once the car reaches the US port where virtually all of the online data sources accessible by customers fall apart.
Hang in there!

Bummer dude..
I went through the same pain a year ago..
My Cooper was built 6/10 and missed 4 boats while waiting on the dock. WW was re-doing their parking area, and I suspect my car was stuck in a corner somewhere. The boat finally got to New Jersey just as the shifter cable recall hit, so it was delayed there for several weeks as well.
Got my hands on the car mid August. I know everyone is probably saying that it is worth the wait, and you may not believe it at the moment, but it REALLY is worth the wait. Hang in there, ecause it gets much much better!

Thanks guys- I'm sure the car will be worth the wait. But yesterday on my way home from work I was stopped at a light with my windows open, and a MCS was driving by coming the opposite way, and hearing that great supercharger whine just made my wait even worse!
You're not going to believe this...I just tracked it again this morning, and I've been bumped up! It's now scheduled to leave on the 3rd and arrive on the 11th.
Thanks BMW/MINI, for reading my post and moving me ahead

Laurie, yes, it is! I was so depressed about having to wait until possibly September to take delivery, but now everything is great once again...

Hop over to the "Can't wait for August" thread. There is a picture of the ship. Looks like a lot of people may have got bumped. Maybe the other boat sank...
Last year a carrier did sink and a bunch of Saabs and BMWs sank with it supposedly.

I believe that was a load of BMWs and VOLVOs....and one single MINI belonging to an MCO member. Not that you necessarily want to dwell on it, but here's the thread (Sinking of the Tricolor).
