R50/53 what is with people today?
I feel your pain, but at least they didn't touch your car.
I was at the Movies Fri, 26 July. Whae I came out someone had hit the hood
of my Mini with a stick of some kind and left a slight dent in the hood.
As if that wasn't enough, I saw boot and sneaker marks on the drivers side door.
What did I do? Were the FUTHER MUCKERS jealous that their hondas couldn't keep up?

Stugots,
I've done stupid things too (the same sort of testosterone driven crap)... and like you I've been lucky. I'm glad to hear the worst thing that happened was your wife berating you (and part of me chuckles and the mental pic of the knuckle dragging kid digging in the bushes for his keys)....
I'm starting to realize that unless you're a long-time British car enthusiast or a BMW loyalist, Mini drivers are a self-selecting group of people who like attention (not that there is anything wrong with that).
It also seems that we draw the attention of more than a few people who are jealous or immature... But to some extent, hey, we've contributed, by driving such a cool and unique little car, we're asking for attention (be it good or bad attention)...
Where am I going with this...
... you can't be surprised when you draw negative attention with a Mini (even if it is only 10% or less of all the attention you draw, you're bound to draw some)...
... and you really should be prepared for it. I.E. don't do something stupid that you'll regret later.
Remember in this day and age it is not uncommon (unfortunately) for CHILDREN to acquire a weapon (and we're not talking knives anymore, but glocks)...
You NEVER know when the idiot in the other car doing or saying the stupid thing is carrying a weapon and might just be deranged enough to use it. It may be a relatively small possibility, but why take the chance? Why put yourself or your loved ones in jeopardy?
Sorry, I don't mean to be preachy, but laughing aside at some of the dumb reactions people have had to Minis and some of the ballsy ways people responded, I just thought someone should be the voice of caution, if not the voice of reason.
Still working on my own maturity,
Kev
