Exhaust Question

Hey guys, I need your opinion on an exhaust for my 2003 mini cooper s. I have to order a new exhaust ASAP for the body shop that is working on my car. It was hit in the rear only 9 days after I purchased the car. Anyways, insurance is covering a new exhaust for the car, and I don't want to go back stock... So here's my predicament, I fell in love with the Invidia N1 Exhaust, but everywhere I have tried to get one they are out of stock, and one gentleman was kind enough to call the company and found out that the exhaust is actually discontinued, and that they could make me one for my model year, but it would be 6 to 8 weeks... So here's my question, I have listened to all of the exhausts on the huge exhaust thread, and I still can't decide. I really like the deeper sound, and absolutely do not want my car to sound raspy or like a "honda". My other car is a 300ZX Twin Turbo, and I love the sound of a deep nice sounding I6 of V6, so as close as I can get to that with the mini the better. I know it is a personal preference to the exhaust sound, so I really have to decide on my own, but I just want the owner opinions of people who actually have heard the exhausts in person, since I have not. So my question is, what exhaust sounds somewhat like the Invidia? Or one that has that nice deeper sound to it, but not too annoying for road trips... Or do you guys know of where I possibly could purchase an Invidia Still? Thank you so much for your help! And sorry for the long post...

consider the megan racing exhaust a REALLY good deal and it sounds nice and deep on my R50, think- "british sports car" to get an accurate mental image. it has a good loud sound but, on the highway doesn't drone too much when you reach cuising speed. not "ricey" at all. the other ones i considered were the blue flame, playmini (hard to get here) and the remus.

i chose the megan due to the deep growl and it is a great deal. the price is around $100-$300 less depending on the comparable brands i was looking at. but, the sound and ratings i read were the clincher. looks very nice too. there are some clips around here and youtube. my second choice was the remus.

the "S" version looks very sweet and and is a nice price. http://www.meganracing.com/products/...=312&catid=102

I have looked online for sound clip of R53 without any luck. You can find an R50 sound clip on my site. I do know this, Megan's stuff is louder than avg for the most part. Whatever "avg" is. LOL

Plus the Megan system weighs almost twice as much as the IE.

you really think so? i don't find mine that loud at all really. i mean it's loud but, i don't think it's overpowering at all. and i'm running the aFe intake kit too. i can HEAR it obviously but, once i reach a cruising speed it just seems to blend well. haven't set off any alarms.

maybe it is because i have the CVT tranny. when i'm in SD mode it does sound louder because the RPM's are getting pushed more before shiftpoints and i get a better sound when the engine is braking.

maybe it is louder but, not as OBNOXIOUS as others i've heard. it definitely has a deeper, meaner sound than alot of other kits i've heard. maybe the more obnoxious kits just seem louder IMO.

I have the R50 Megan Exhaust and love it. But it is louder then stock and while the deeper tone is very nice, it can be loud over 3K RPMs. Trust me, I love to make it sing around 5K with the K&N screaming too. I wish we could find an R53 with the Megan sound clip.
