John Cooper Works Upgrade Kit (CAI, Injectors, ECU)

Some dealers are advertising a JCW upgrade (Item #11 120 395 131) that consists of the following:
JCW air box (CAI)
JCW injectors
JCW ECU (I believe that this is software and although it is sold in this package, it can only be installed by stealer as a download. They will charge additional labor)

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=accessoryPart5&siteid=214201&cata logid=3751&categoryID=75816

The dealers that have it advertised on the web say that it is only for 2003- 2004 Cooper S. I thought the JCW C.A.I. and ECU software are the same for all (2003 - 2006). Am I wrong to assume the stock injectors were upgraded in 05? Why else would they say it is only for MCS 2003-2004?

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think the JCW kit used the stock CAI on the car from 2002-2004 and it was until 2005 when the JCW CAI was introduced, you could then buy the CAI and add it to the 2002-2004 JCW cars

Early JCW kits did not have the same flash as the later ones. The software is intended to bring the 03-04 cars to the same level as the later MINI's.

I'm not 100% certain but I think the early kit did not include the 380 injectors and Airbox either.

JCW upgrade (Item #11 120 395 131) kit is just that...an upgrade for the 03-04 JCW kits that were dealer installed.

If this makes it easier...

03-04 JCW kits were installed by dealers and offered an advertised 200hp. Included the S/C, head, exhaust, ECU flash and some other stuff. Not 100% if injectors and CAI was included.

05-06 JCW became a factory/port installed option and was bumped to an avertised 207hp. Dealers also offered the same kit for local install. Included the S/C, head, exhaust, ECU flash, 380's and CAI along with other stuff.

Owneres of 03-04 JCW MINI's had the option to pay to get updated to 05-06 specs. That is this kit.

That's just what I was going to say! The JCW pulley and cylinder head are the two most important parts in the JCW package that probably give 95% of the increase in power over a regular MCS.

Edit: Thanks gnatster for clarifying. I didn't read your new post until after I posted.

i just ordered the upgrade kit from morristown after x'mas. if you get a good price it's a pretty good deal for both the cai and injectors. what was pretty annoying was that it didn't come w/ instructions even tho on the box it told the dealers to print out instructions and give to customers. but pdf's are available motoringfile
