Newbie needs advice

first new here obviously, hi nice to meet ya, i was wondering if someone in the vast knowledge of north american motoring can help me. i have a 2003 cooper s that im starting to mod like crazy. i have my windows tinted to 25%, an Alta 15%underdrive pulley, an Alta cold air intake, a shorty billet antenna, the cooper s boost guage and alternator guage mounted next to the tach that looks factory, a short shifter kit from Alta. i have had my eye on a lightened crank pulley for awile but i have heard things that have scared me. i have heard that the lightened pulley can damage you engine since you are replacing the factory engine balancer? so: my question is really two part.
#1 has anyone installed one of these or heard of anything going wrong by putting one on?
#2 If you have one installed or know someone who does, does the lightened pulley make a big enough difference for the 150$ ?

thanks alot in advance

Might want to try posting in one of the modifications forums... I personally have no experience with crank pulleys. :(
