You know if you are flexible on color and options, ask your dealer if they have any inventory that hasn't been sold, or the order cancelled before delivery.
These units they will want ot move fast and just may be willing to negotiate a price under MSRP. Its definately worth asking, all the dealer can say is no.
Give it a try and I would suggest that to anyone ever buying any other car as well!

^^ Well, I mean, it IS his job to sell cars...

But if you aren't comfortable with it, start talking to another MA. When I went in to my dealer the first time I was totally ignored (not maliciously--just given time to futz about) and even once I started asking questions (I had very few, I already knew I was buying a MINI) they were answered, the car was explained, and I was left to futz some more. I actually had to approach the MA and tell him I wanted to order. I thought it was great--no pressure at all. So talking to a different MA might get you somewhere closer to the friendly apathy you desire.

xzibbit... I know you aren't planning on purchasing the car immediately, but I wouldn't say you're wasting the dealer's time! You are educating yourself--making yourself a good consumer. There's nothing wrong with that.

I'm assuming you aren't 11 years old or something.... When were you planning on purchasing, if you decide that MINI is right for you? Not that it matters much, I'm just curious
