R50/53 SELLER FRAUD ON EBAY AUCTIONS
Hi. I am a Mini Cooper owner and I am trying to warn everybody for selling fraud in e-bay auctions. I have seen a few weeks ago some wheels+ tires ( Mini cooper S 17"
on ebay motors auctions. I click on the link ask seller a question and he answer by email telling me if I wanted the buy it now price. I reply yes and he came with a acceptable price. I was keeping in touch by email while the payment was not made ( by Moneygram of course ). I never received any items and we are talking about €600. The worst is that I see the same auctions almost everyday but with different user ID. He usually changes his ID daily. It is a private auction with 3 day listing. He uses so far the following user ID: shilof74, ronal70, loide70, fredalva34, and today use ID is ferfiz71, item # 2423299944( registered in San Marino ,Andorra and others.
Be carefull!

This sucks but the seller is smart... he is keeping the names of all his bidders private, so you cant email them to warn them, and it's a private auction so he can check the feedback of potential bidders and not allow those he thinks might know enough to cause him problems.
I'd warn ebay, send them an email with the item numbers of different auctions from different user id's showing they are all identical and -maybe- they'll do something about it, but unlikely.
The best thing to do is to always keep an eye on that feedback rating.... if it has any negative feedback or no feedback at all, don't send money you won't lose sleep over if it disapears for ever.

I'd definitely bring it to the attention of EBAY. With the insurance they offer now through PayPal they'll ultimately be the one funding this guy's operation. So they may actually look into this and this guy could get busted.
I have posted the same message on mini2.com . The administrator reply telling me that I could not post it in several forums. And then what happened ? I cannot access to my mini2.com account and new messages. They remove the acess permition. It´s amazing isn´t it ? A person try to warn others and that is the pay that receives.

Whhhhaaaaa? Mini2 is reading MCO and then is using that "intelligence" to edit/filter posts on Mini2? If that's what's happening, it sounds positively Big Brother to me. (and that's another reason to stay away from the big heads over on Mini2).
But maybe they just think you're using the MINI forums to flame an eBay seller. Maybe you want to explain your case to the mods over at Mini2...

What?
What kind of illogical fascists are running that site? Unbelievable.
Thanks again for your heads up; I'm sure everyone appreciates it.

Thanks for the warning. Ebay is full of people that are trying to make a fast illegal buck.
What ever happened to the John Cooper Works kits for sale on Ebay x 3?
Was that for real or fake? Does anyone know? About two weeks ago a seller says he had 4 kits and three were for sale I think it was east coast or NY.

I think what Paul was trying to say was, don't post it on all of the forum pages in the Mini2 site.
You had posted it in about 3 different locations over there. I don't think he was indicating that if you post on MCO you shouldn't post on M2 or even roadfly. I've seen numerous cross posts, where the same write up is posted on all 3 boards.
As to what happened to your ability to access your account I can't explain, although I've had problems logging on in the past, as Paul does alot of site maintenance and sever upgrades.

I sell a lot of stuff on ebay, they will do something about fraud if you complain, they are just slow. The biggest problem is figuring out where to file the complaint on their site!
One must wonder why a seller would keep information private, what are they trying to hide. Some do it for big ticket items, others perhaps for "adult" material.
There are many scams on ebay, it's incredible that so many transactions are conducted successfully. I have fortunately never been ripped off, though many have tried. Some are pretty convincing, you just have to go slowly.
Normalizer is right, review the feedback, and if it's low, non-existent, or private, ask a lot of questions before going through with the deal.

Thanks a lot for your support! I made all reports to ebay and also to ifccfbi ( FBI department auction frauds) but I think that I will have no luck with that. I became without money and without new wheels and I really need it. Maybe in the future I will find something on Minicooperonline forums. The worst are the shipping costs to Portugal. You people in the USA are very lucky. Here in Portugal we have no such used parts ( only 350 minis here ).
Jerks like that are the reason that I NEVER use ebay. If you shop around using legitimate classifieds and retailers, you can usually find the item you are looking for at that price or even less, with no bidding and no scams.
