Gender, age (approx), marital status, location and MC or MCS, please!

Or, just subjecitvely, do you think your insurance is high compared to that of other cars you've owned?

I just saw in another thread that insurance on an MCS is similar to an Escort!?!?!?!

Married male, age 55 located in SoCal, no points, accidents or claims. All are yearly premiums with full coverage including uninsured motorist and low deductibles. Premiums are as follows.

'01 BMW X5 4.4 $980.70
'02 Chevy 2500HD truck $670.08
'03 MCS $547.96

I think the MCS is inline with the other premiums.

I checked with my carrier. It's a bit tricky since I had two cars and I'm going to one so I lose the multi-car discount. But apples to apples, it's about $140 more than my 99 Miata LS. I'm getting an MCS. 35 SWM in DC Metro area with no tickets on my record.

MCS
23
Single Female
Pittsburgh, PA
No accidents or speeding tickkies (knocking on head)
Upper $800, bordering on $900 something/year

Don't forget about multi-policy discounts. If I take out a life insurance policy with my agency, I actually pay less per year than I would with just the car insurance. And then, of course, I get to cash out the policy.

Single female, 41, MCS, no points, accidents or claims in years!! I'm paying way too much because of my geographical area, lower Bucks county, PA. But in line with coverage of other car. I also have the highest deductibles.

Male/mid-forties/married/Phoenix-Ahwatukee/MCS

~ $540 per year, $1,000 deductible, clean record w/ no tickets or accidents due to me or my wife in the last ... few years.

We also have a 2003 PT Cruiser and the cost for it is about $120 per year higher.

Incidently, the cost for insurance for my motorcycle (BMW F650 Dakar) is the same as the cost for the MCS. Go figure.

I'm not sure what mine is (don't feel like digging the bill out) but I wanted let you all know that my MCS is $6 cheaper per year than my 2002 Jetta (POS) was.

Man aged 52, Married. Good though not spotless driving record. Located in rural Maryland and own 2003 MC
Approx $600 per year with State Farm.

I was a little surprised that it wasn't higher, given that it's new and a 'sports' car (though I'd guess they don't rank it that way) We pay about $500 a year for our 10-year-old Civic. By way of contrast, we paid nearly twice that for the Civic when it was new and we lived in Baltimore.

Male/42/married/north-central Massachusetts/me & wife insured, no kids driving.

$1800/year for TWO cars (02 MCS and an 01 Chrysler Minivan). The MINI is responsible for almost exactly 1/2 of that total...so, about $900/yr for the MINI.

Altogether, that's not too bad (glad I'm not under 25 any more). But the crime here is that my insurance went up by about $600/yr last year due to two friggin' speeding tickets OVER A 5 YEAR PERIOD! Prior to this increase, it would have been $600/yr for the MINI (or $1200 total for both cars). Now, what with the "aggressive enforcement" in my area, it's pretty much unavoidable for me to avoid these sorts of surcharges. I'm hearing of people in my area getting stopped for going 35 in 25mph zones (local towns are LOWERING speed limits to generate additional revenue ) and garnering $150 tickets...and these will result in even more surcharges. Oh, and don't even get me started about the INSURANCE CANCELATIONS and premium increases brought on by your actually making a claim on your insurance. Therefore, it's possible to raise your premiums if you make more than 2 claims in 5 years...EVEN IF THE ACCIDENTS WERE NOT YOUR FAULT!!

Arghhhhhh!!!!! I hate insurance companies and I hate Massachusetts' state-wide regulation of auto insurance even more (i.e., we can't shop for rates here...the state sets them).

Whoops, sorry for the rant. It's just a sensitive subject, you know?

(off now to buy a Val 1 to replace the aging Escort -- which I'll give to my wife as even she is now subject to tickets, and she's a sloooooow driver. The detector won't help all of the time, but maybe enough to make it worth while)

'03 MC cost to insure full coverage with State Farm....$770/year
Cheaper to insure than my wife's '00 Honda CRV or my (sold) '00 Accord SE Go figure.

Maybe it has something to do with age...BTW, 39.

Just contacted my insurance company and found out that my insurance will increase by about $250 per year for a 2003 MC. The car I am replacing is a 1994 Camry so I don't consider the increase too bad. My insurance company (GEICO) doesn't handle Gap insurance so I am going to check with the lender and if it is at all reasonable I will be getting that, too.
