R50/53 How many miles on your mini?
I can't believe it. I have had this car 10 days and have almost 1000 miles on it! Have others encountered this 'problem'? Or perhaps mine is just a mile, i mean mild case, have others driven alot more in the first ten days? Does it begin to run it's course and level off after the first month or so? Today I thought of calling Roadside Assistance and asking them to help get me out of my mini-- when they asked where i was, i would say doing 85 on route 70, and then say catch me if you can...
Really, how long has it taken others to get through the break in period?
Steve (oops, just remembered, have to get milk... I think I'll go to the grocery in Kentucky, milk's on sale...)

I have noticed the same problem. I've definitely put about 4,000 miles on mine this summer alone (plus 2,000 in the two months before that). I would say that the odometer's probably just screwy, but then again, things like this just seem to keep happening: I just drove from State College, PA to Baltimore, MD today (about 155 miles and three hours if you take highways) without looking at a map or setting tires on an interstate, which added a good two and half hours and 100 miles. (Fine -- I did spend about five miles on I-81, but that was an accident!
)
Oh, and while I was in PA, I went cliff-jumping at Bellefonte Quarry -- one of the swimming holes listed on the miniusa.com! It's fantastic. (I'd been there years ago, too.) I highly recommend it if anyone is in the area (by which I mean a 400 miles radius).
I like the idea of calling Roadside Assistance to get you out of your car!

Charles,
I didn't know about suggested drives/stops at miniusa-- I'm going to check this out. I know what you mean about driving off the interstate. I spent about two hours on Ohio country roads yesterday, listening to some old cd's and tapes, with the sun roof open, stopping in a few town squares, listened to a concernt. I haven't done that in 15 years (or more, to be honest). This car is such a pleasure...
glad you are enjoying too!

You can go straight to the section with swimming holes, drive-in movie theaters, etc. by opening http://www.miniusa.com/link/motoron/roadknowledge in your browser. (I heard there's also a drive-in theater near State College, PA, but I don't know for sure. There one in Baltimore, MD, too, and I don't know if that's listed on the miniusa site.)
I've had my S for two and a half months and only have 1500 miles on it. Why? Because I bike to work and I recently started autocrossing with my Miata. The two cars are SO different that if I don't drive the Miata frequently it hurts my autox performance.
Drstevenj, I'm surprised I haven't seen you tooling around Columbus yet. I was out in my Mini on Saturday and I've been watching for you around Caribou. Maybe I'll see you at the Mini meet!

Minimott,
I was over at Easton and then drove almost to Chillocothe (sp?). I usually stop at the Caribou on Gview Ave, or at Borders on Kenny. I did see a Red MCS with a white top and sunroof at Borders on Sat nite, but didn't find the owner. Before I got the mini, I met four mini owners. Since the mini arrived, I have not seen another cooper on the road-- hope it wasn't something I said....
Hope to see you soon!!

I have had my S for four weeks and I hit 3900 miles today. I drive a lot for my work and the second week of ownership I took off. Strange thing is, I don't mind my drive anymore. People say "doesn't it suck with the manual trans"? I wouldn't have it any other way. I find longer curvier roads to get me home these days.

I was one of the Mini owners you met before you got yours. I haven't seen any Minis on the road while driving mine, so I know what you're going through. As there are more coming in every month it'll only be a matter of time...

My Mini has almost 1500 miles under her belt and I have had her just under a month......this is mostly because I put about 500 miles on her in the past 4 days because I went on a road trip to the beach!
I have 70 miles but would have more but I have been talking to all the people who have stopped me.
Honest to god, before I left Mini of Towson an Asian couple in a big Benz shopping for a BMW stopped me and want to know what it cost. Since they were driving a German car I said 51,000 German Marks.
I let them convert price.

I picked up my mini about two weeks ago and have put about 890 miles on it. I have become addicted to driving it!! On weekends, I usually start drivign at around 6:30am. Prior to my purchase, I couldn't imagine myself getting up that early on a saturday!!

Bill,
I find people ask me the cost fairly often when they ask about the car. I like asking them to guess what they think the base price is-- then when the do (most often in 30-40K range), I get to say 'well that would buy you two and a half' and watch their faces. I have had two people who didn't know the cost before asking me guess 18K, the rest have all been higher. Nice to have made such a great choice, and wrapped it up in such an amazing price.

Emma has just over 4,000 miles on her (in 2 1/2 months). Not much compared to some, but when you consider that I only put 3,500 miles on my last car per YEAR, it's a lOT! Lovin every mile and enjoying every smile!
