I may be able to buy a Dark Silver MCS soon, but it doesn't have the sport package. My question is, I was told the suspension was firmer in the MCS than the regular Cooper, but what if the MCS doesn't have the sport package? I would also like to know what people are doing about the sunroof. Since there is nothing that will completely block sun from coming in the sunroof, what are people doing to block the sun. One salesman suggested heavily tinting the sunroof glass. This is the best idea i have heard so far. I don't really want the sunroof but may have to take it in order to have a car to drive after i sell mine and so that I won't have to order one and wait until at least next year. If I can't find a Mini S to buy within about a month after selling my car I'm going to have to get a new VW GTi or Jetta GLi with the 24v vr6 200hp engine and 6 speed. Hope it doesn't come down to that though, because i really want a Mini.

don't tint your sunroof! I had planned on tinting my sunroof (when I get my MCS) but I heard that tinting the sunroof causes the glass to heat unevenly and could end up cracking the glass, also heard most tint places won't even do it. My suggestion is: if it's too hot for you then there should be an aftermarket shade that's solid out soon.

My understanding is the MCS suspension is similar to the regular Cooper sport suspension plus option. The biggest difference on the MCS Sport package is 17" rims versus 16", there is no change in the suspension (you get other goodies in the sport package, but the suspension is the same). The leather wrapped steering wheel is also standard on the MCS. I hope that helps your decision.

Come now.. Don't waste your money on a GTI or Jetta... Never once have I seen people starring at us when driving in my friend Marc's.... It's not as much fun!

I'm not really after looks from people, but i own a 97' GTi VR6 and the car is a blast to drive. It has more low end torque than the MCS by FAR. And with my suspension setup corners really well. And the new 200hp vr6 gti with the 6 speed is very comparable to the Mini. Pretty much the same price but its bigger. Also, the GTi is alot easier to get and for under MSRP because it isn't such a HOT car like the mini. But for a stock car the Mini is great and needs nothing. The GTi will need a new suspension setup after a while i think. Either way, I won't be dissapointed with either one. Same warranty, both new cars, both European, both solid, the GTi is faster, the Mini corners better from the factory, and both put a smile on my face.

i'd suggest not getting the sunroof. I think it's a bad idea, way too big. the whole roof is open when you drive and you never know if you are going to get hit by a bird poop or something of the car for me. The HP is nice, too. BUT... i had to have the perfect car so I ordered a MINI w/sport package, NO sunroof, onboard computer, leather wrapped steering wheel - for MSRP. Pepper White/Pepper white.

If there was a problem with tinting your sunroof, wouldn't that happen with any tinted window exposed to direct sun??!?!?!?!

Got our red S two days ago with sunroof. We live in San Diego where its very sunny and we have two small children that ride in the back and we are very protective of their exposure to the sun. The sunroof as is, is tinted plenty I think, but I agree that a solid screen will come out from the aftermarket if not Mini in short order. Too bad you have to get a car with such an expensive option that you don't want though.
