Try Mini Cooper S upgraded tips. Check the picture in my gallery. They look great and I've gotten plenty of compliments and questions about them. Mine are painted dark grey on the inside. Installation is just like the factory beer cans with a 3mm allen wrench. They are hard to find, but check with your dealership as these are the only upgraded tips Mini Cooper makes.

If you go to any good muffler shop they usually have a selection of tips you can take a look at and see first hand. It is a simple process to cut off your old tips and weld on the new. Spend an afternoon and I am sure you will find something you like.

Well said, trackster. But some of the coolest tailpipes I've seen are the trumpet style pipes of the Magnaflow... Too bad no one is making tips like those.

Hey MC2, glad you like the upgrades. Contact Mini of Morristown, as they have some of the best prices on tips. The JCW tips are sold individually, think I paid close to $70 per. Also, JCWs are not designed to fit the stock MCS exhaust. They'll slide on, but will extend further and point downward due to the bending of stock pipes. If you're contacting Mini of Morristown about the OEM upgraded tips, ask them and I'll bet they'll have a good price on the JCW tips as well.

i just ordered these and the tips came today. i have a 3mm allen wrench, but am having trouble getting the original tips off. i know they are factory tight, but the little allen wrench keeps coming out of the socket. any suggestions?

i got my tips about a week ago. i painted the insides a cast iron color and they look much better. they do stick out a bit from the rear. at some angles, i like it. these are just going to hold me over until i save up for a milltek system. in the end, these do look much better than the stock tips.

When I changed my tips i went with a single oval stainless steel tip. Required a little modification but it mounts the same way as the stock beer can tips so there was no mods to the exhaust itself. I have a set of mint beer can tips if anyone is interested in them.

Found this exhaust on EBay for $194 + $50 shipping. Is this a good buy?

to 36rodder....that's a good look! would you mind posting another photo or two showing the rear of the car from a greater distance? Also, who makes that oval tip, and where is it available? Thanks.

When I did this I wanted to do it w/o modifying the exhaust at all, so if I didn't like it I could go back to the stock tips. First I bought a oval stainless steel tip off eBay like this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Exhau...#ht_2766wt_935

Then I cut off the inlet and modified it to mount like the stock tips.

See this post on the modifications.
