Advice please! Single exhaust tip for 2005 s??

Google failed me (or I just can't define what I'm looking for?)

I did the one ball mod on my 05 S and I am looking for an exhaust tip that will cover both pipes. I don't really like the dual tip look..

If anyone knows of any such exhaust tip I would greatly appreciate any advice or help you can offer.

Thanks!

Never seen anything that would fit over the stock muffler pipes. Check with a local muffler shop and see if they could make something up.

hmm, I was afraid of that. I saw a few on google image search but none took me to a website selling them. I really don't think the full exhaust thing fits what I'm going for so I guess I will call some shops tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!

There is the ACS one, but its still kind of 2.

I figure you could possibly find one of the knockoff ones, as the real ones wont work from what the thread says

or maybe get something like this and cut the back off.... probably a bit of work though

Check eBay. There are a ton of tips listed. Prices aren't bad either.

Single Tip Exhaust

I used a tip similar to the one iwashmycar posted,

It requies some fabrication but looks great when done. I cut off the back section of the new tip and added metal strips instide and set screws so that it mounts the same way the original tips mount. It just attaches to the stock tips with two set screws. I did it that way in case I didn't like it, I could go back to the stock tips in a matter of minutes.

Bought the stainless steel tip on eBay. I have ~$25 total into the conversion. It was really pretty easy and didn't take more than a half hour. I will post some better pictures and details including the modifications needed to make it work after work today.

Single Tip on Stock Exhaust

Bought a 3" x 6" OD stainless tip on eBay. I cut the inlet off and then used tin snips to trim the back so that the tip fit over the exhaust tips and was the correct length. I welded 1/8" steel strips inside so I could add set screws to mount it like the stock tips mount.

I had to also add 3/8" tubing inside the top so the tip would set level when clamped. I used JB weld to secure this since I couldn't get inside to weld it in place.

Also added a brace connecting the top & bottom at the back to keep the tip from flexing when clamped. The last thing I added was perferated metal at the outlet to help hide the stock tips inside the new oval tip.

Wow, that looks awesome man. I think painting the stock black is wise too. Def going with this idea. Thanks everyone!

Window tint done today.

So far I've done the one ball mod, short shifter, intake, and tint. Tip is next then to lower it..The mini is a blast to mod!

Adding the tip is fine.

An example would be the quicksilver exhaust for cooper S
