R50/53 For those that have hardwired a radar detector...
I was successfully able to hardwire my Valentine 1 Radar Detector yesterday evening. I mounted it just to the side of the rear view mirror and ran the wire along the headliner and then down the A-Pillar (on the side closest to the rear of the car).
I was successfully able to tuck the power cord above the A-Pillar (where it meets the headliner). However, I had a few problems tucking the cord in the extreme corner near the windshield, both above the A-Pillar and where the headliner meets the A-Pillar (at the corner). Does anyone have any advice on how to tuck the wire in this area? It is not easy as there is not a lot of looseness in the headliner in this area.
I was able to do this without even loosening the headliner, so it was pretty simple overall. However, I would like to get the entire wire hidden and the corner section is giving me some trouble.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DJ
BTW: I tapped directly into the fuse panel using an empty slot (much safer and guaranteed to not cause any electrical problems or void the warranty). This was far more time consuming, but the best way IMO to do it.
