ok i have a slight dilema here. i put my car on ebay, auction ended at $18,600.. more than what its really worth. the drivers side door has two small dents. went to mini dealer they said $220 (paintless) went somewhere else the guy said he would have to repaint the whole side of the car (???) said $600.
i dont know what to do, i'm not willing to pay over $100, but i also dont think its fair to give someone the car for that price with these blemishes, esp. because i didnt put those on the listing because i thought i would be able to have them fixed in time... what would you do??

Since you made more than the car is worth then pay the $200 and get it fixed. Or you tell the purchaser and knock some money off the final price of the vehicle.

Since you sold it for more than it worth go get the dents fixed at the dealer with the paintless process.

BTW, don't you think the person that bought it reads the items on this site. If they bought it off e-bay I would bet they do.

well i actually don't get all of that $18,600. ebay gets about $300 and i cant afford to pay over $100 for fixing the dents cause i still have to buy an MCS that is $24,000

not everyone who likes minis reads this site.

Pay the $200 and get them fixed using the paintless door ding removal system. Why pay $600, have the whole door repainted and risk losing automatically your resale value?

Be honest at all times.

Don't waist your money. get the paintless done but not at the paint dealer. look one up in the phone book. they will usually come to your house or work. my mom got a dent repaired on her bmw with paintless but the bmw dealer wanted 300 bucks she got it done for 60 and didn't have to take it anywhere they came to her.

did you state that you were going to have the dents fixed? if so fix it other wise it is buyer beware. if they didn't think the car was worth what they Bid then tough they buy as is. but if you want to be nice. look one up the dealer will only chrge more than the service is worth.

Ditto to what GPW-Pat said,

If the dealer quoted $220, you can probably get this done between $100 to $140 by the same vendor as the dealer would use. I have used this "paintless" technique on two different cars and it works like a charm and it only takes a few minutes. Do the right thing and have the dents removed, do onto others as....

Not sure which is the best repair solution, - but, you'll lose much more if the buyer backs out based on you not listing the dents within the item's description.

I would likely choose the paint-less, following GPW-Pat's instructions.

Good luck.

If you got a fair price, do the right thing and do the paintless fix. I've done it on several of my cars and it comes out nice. Good luck with your new MCS!

Go with the paintless dent removal. Should be around 100-150. I would rather have the dents on the car than get it re-painted. Good Luck....

We have hail here when there's a thunderstorm and I can safely say for you to call someone from the phone book! We were amazed at the dents a guy removed from the hood and roof of my friends pick up!
