I know I did for a while and now have the answer. The R34 Optima will NOT fit the R50/non-S Mini. I ordered one in and tried it today. 1, its super tight in the box. No doubt it wouldn't move. But, the problem is that it's about 1/2-3/4 in. too tall. If the posts were just a little lower, the terminals would reach. I would have liked it to be a little more narrow so the bracket would have fit but since it didn't either way, it dosen't matter.

Yeah, I guess that would have helped. For those of you who never had battery problems or had someone else take care of battery problems, Optima makes deep cycle batteries. Optima PN R34 fits in the "S" battery box but not the Non-S.

Someone said Walmart has an Everstart battery that fits perfectly. It's been a couple of years, but the Consumer Reports battery test I read back then rated the Walmart battery near the top of a pack of about 20 different brands. The Optima was rated much lower, even though it cost twice as much. Maybe you need to go to Wally World.
