150,000 Miles, what will yours look like?

Here is mine, I turned 150k on the way to work this morning, and thought I would take some pictures. Please note, the car is a mess, it rained last night, and I haven't had time to clean it since last Friday ~1000 mile ago. I guess this is how it typically looks .

I have had it just over 4 1/2 years, and this is what its looking like now

First the proof

Now some other pictures

For those wondering what maintenance cost have been, its been really low;
1st service (replaced recalled suspension bolt/ oil change) $0
2nd Service (replaced recalled header tank. oil change) $0
Oil changes 5x $50 $250
Tires 4 x ~600 $2400
Front Brakes $180
Rear Brakes $50
Belts + $50
Total $2930.00
Might be some other little things I've misses or forgotten, like bulbs or some other misc small items.

Now for the mods (mine are fairly minimal)

CAI $350
Pulley $120
Graphics $100
Grill $20
Plugs $70
Header Tank $250
Catch Can $130
Wheels ~$1000
WMS Sway $450
Alta Control Arms $200
Lights $100
DFIC $850
M7 Coilovers $1500
M7 Strutbrace + $180
Total $5320

I did all of the installs myself, so no labor costs. I'm sure I missed a few, but I think I covered all of the main ones.

The car has been great, pretty much trouble free, and a hell of alot of fun to mess with. I do have a spare supercharger waiting for this one to fail.

What yours going to look like?

Nik

Thanks for sharing. How encouraging

Liquid yellow is my other favorite color. I always smile when I see one, and I'm sad they discontinued the color.

150K Wow!

Congrats on the longevity. I am hoping my 05 MCS last as long. 150k is alot of miles on any car. I love the area your are living in. I have a place in Mammoth and love getting up there as much as possible. I always look for your car when going thru that area.

Are you 'tired' of your car at all? My past cars (not my MCS) seemed to fall out of favor at about 90k. Does your car run the same as it did when new?
I hope you get another 150k.

By the way.....what happened to your posted pics?

Thanks for the comments,

Yes Eric, it does rain in Ca in the summer , ok maybe afternoon showers, but it was enough to make a mess of everything.

Coop-a-Loop - Let me know when you are passing thru, could find something to do. No, not tired of the car at all, still look forward to driving it every time. I think its running better that one it was new .

Most of the pics are in my gallery , not sure why you cant see them.

If it was still made by the British you would have spent thousands on missing fasteners

Man that's great! I agree that this is very encouraging. Your car still looks fantastic, and the maintenance has not been cost prohibitive at all! Thanks for sharing. Waiting for my '07 MCS to arrive and having my co-workers raz me about buying a Mini rather than a more "reliable" car like a VW Rabbit, I needed something like this to calm my nerves a bit.

A Rabbit? Come on!

Thanks for sharing Nik. I usually keep my cars until they have a whole pile of miles on them. With the MINI I was thinking 100K might be as far as I'd go. Seeing where you are I'm changing my thinking on that. Let us know when you hit 200K. That will be real milestone.

Very nice! I rolled over 50,000 miles in early July with my 26 month old baby. I hope I'm looking at a solidly running vehicle with NO car payments. :-) I'm going to keep this one for a long time.

Glad to see it running strong at 150k. At my current rate, mine won't hit that mark for almost another 18 years, so I doubt it will look as nice as yours!

I know, and it's my daily driver! The reason I don't have more miles on it is my commute to work is about 3.5 miles, and when my daughter was in a rear facing car seat it was not conducive to all 3 of us taking the MINI. Now that she is a little older, we are driving it a bit more with all 3 of us.

Thanks!

A very big thank you for sharing your great looking MCS! I too will be keeping my Coop until the day I die and also struggle with what issues I may face down the line. I've just clocked 52k and have had great luck with "Austin". I will admit I'm truly **** about taking care of the car and drive pretty softly as he is my daily driver until I get a Clubman in a few more years.

Its nice to hear from someone out there with a good amount of mileage that has had few issues. I want believe in BMW engineering and your info eases my worries just that much more. I hear so many gloomy stories from people and their woes, it makes me wonder a little. I have NEVER questioned my decision to get a MINI and look forward to owning two someday. Long live the R50/53!

Great job on keeping your 03 MCS up to par after 150K miles. I have an 03 MCS and have 67K on the dial right now and plan to keep this car until I am stretched out stiff. I figure if I can put 366K on a Ford Explorer and have it still running well, it should be no problem on my MINI.

Congrats Nik. How many miles on the classic?
My MCS will be 5 years in my garage in October, daily driver the whole time, and I'm just about to hit 49,000 miles. I have about the same distance commute as DansMINI (3 miles each way) so they are mostly "hard" miles too.
