Six MINIs, SIX waves in southeast NY

On my commute home yesterday on RT 9 south and RT 9D south in NY, I passed six MINIs and got six waves. A new record. Nice commute home.
I wonder if any of those folks frequent this site??

WOW! That is excellent. If I get 50% wave backs, I am pleased.

i gave up on waving to certain mini's..i see the same ones going to work and coming back from work. not everyday but here and there.
so i know which ones wave and which ones dont. for example. a very old lady (no offense) has a red mini and i waved but she didnt even look at my car. oh well. ill leave it at that. if they want to wave...ill wave.

I live in the Midwest, so everyone waves no matter what you drive... (lots of dirt roads)

Have you ever waved at a MINI when you were driving one of your other cars? I do it all the time out of force of habit. I get some weird looks from folks.

Yesterday, in Oak Ridge, TN, I found an identical MINI to mine in front of me except it was a convert. Middle aged man driving alone. I worked my way up behind him and followed at a proper distance for several blocks and several red lights. He never looked in his mirror. I later pulled up beside him on a double lane road... he never looked, I pulled slightly ahead of him and waved, he never moved. I guess to him a tintop was not worth the effort (just kidding).

Some people are just not into enjoying any comoroddery with other people.

And although I avoid driving my other car as much as possible, sometimes it is necessary and I do forget and wave to a MINI....

I also feel bad when I meet a long line of on-coming traffic and there is a MINI somewhere in the middle of the pack and I don't see it in time to wave or flash my lights.

YD

I'm 0 for 7. I think I need to move.

Woohoo! 1 in 8 on my way home from work. (still kind of lame though)

See? New Yorkers aren't bad people. ;-)
Anytime I'm not in my MINI (which is rarely) and I see another MINI I feel a tug at my heart wishing I was in my ultra cool, different and fun MINI. I have waved exclaiming "MINIIII!"
Such a nerd I am...

Many trips over the Bklyn Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and Hanhattan bridge I would say pulling up to a mini would be a 60/40 chance of a wave, while I was living in brooklyn.
Since I've moved to jersey and I take the Holland Tunnel or the Lincoln It's not the same, very few.
Strange thing is the mini encounters have increased

Yesterday right here in Nanuet. One red MCC and one red MCSC driven by a gent and a lady, respectively... and both topless (the MINIs were topless, lol). Waves from each and even briefly chatted with the fella; "Nice MINI!"

Id say out on Long Island, NY i get about 75% waves, I figure some people buy a mini just cause its a small ecomnomical car that gets them from point A to point B, or an affiliation with a good German automaker. where as people like us treat it like a way of life, or a cult following :-)

I've owned my mini about 3 months, and i've yet to pass one without getting a wave. Doesn't matter if they are in front, behind, beside, going the opposite way, they always wave. Some people get really excited and start bouncing around in their seats while they wave. I love the community this car has. i've had plenty of other cars (the mustang is a good example), but would never get a wave from someone else with the same car. MINIs rule (when they start)!
