R50/53 How much do you guys think I could get for my mini?
Its a 2003 Mini Cooper S Fully loaded, no Nav, upgraded Stero, xeon, etc. 8500 miles. Red with white roof, and white bonnet stripes? Any ideas? I'm looking to purchase a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII.
I think your Mini should bring a fair amount as the color combo is the most desirable overall, don't really know exact figure but should be top dollar for used Mini.My guess would be 18 to 20k.I would like to say this though...The Lancer is just another tin box with a spunky motor and certainly not as nice as a Mini and that's not an opinion...it's a fact.Sure it's pretty zippy in a strait line but you gotta ask yourself how often you will really be able to take advantage of that and your still left with a boxy ugly car thats fast but nobody will give a damn. The interior of that car is as plain jane as they come and certainly nothing exciting about it and will never have that special feel a Mini has and I honestly think you will regret the purchase...but then again...it's your money
If it helps any, I bought my 2003 MCS in Mexico almost fully loaded (no Nav or cold package) for $28,400 (including brutal 15% mexican sales tax) and sold it a couple days ago at $24,200.
Buying an identical one in the U.S., $24,200 should just about cover it.

expect to take a 15-20% hit on what you paid for it. Some mini owners who are NOT selling their car, seem to think they can get 118% of what they paid for it after one year by quoting some obscure source. Yet, it they ever sell it, they find out the truth...the Mini declines 15-20% in first week just like any other new car. Good luck.

^ OK, you can't come on here as a newbie and tell us you're selling your MINI "cause all I've had is problems" without providing some detail as to what the problems were. Come on, give it up.... tell us what the problems were if you want any sympathy.
Ok, hold up. First week my abs censor broke and needed replaced, traction controll was constanly on. dent on the back left bumper(which isnt the cars fault). And now my car doesn't start up in the morning, it takes 2 to 3 times to start (ignition problem) a damn rock chip from a truck hit my window, and cost me 525.00$, And and when shifting its very ruff, even my cosuin whos a tech said there a problem with it, and should get it checked.

I couldn't agree with this post more. I honestly thought (for no apparent reason) that I would be able to sell my MINI one year later with 5,000 miles for about 90% of what I paid for it. I was wrong. I guess that's what I get for buying one of the first dozen cars in the city...but I pick up my S tomorrow, and it sounds like I might actually be able to sell my MC for a decent price on Tuesday to a good home, so maybe everything will work out after all!

His MCS a Lemon?? Sorry I don't buy it. The guy just prefers spiffed up ricers and that's the only reason he wants to get rid of it. Give him 6 months with the Lancer EVO and he will be selling it because of some other dislike. Some people are never happy.
Sorry to hear about your MINI problems. Good luck with the new Evo....from the front it reminds me of a Pontiac, but it is definitely fast.
I'll say you could sell it for 23K.

>>The organization that sets lease values for cars (forgot their name) listed the MINI as the car that would depreciate least after a 3 yr lease. It would hold 60% of its value. Impressive >>>
I think when I originally leased my MINI (have since purchased it) the residual was 63% after 3 yrs!

That organization is called Auto Leasing Guide (ALG) and you can hit them at http://www.alg.com.
Your best source for real world resale values is to contact a licensed auto broker or a used car manager that keeps up to date with the local used car sales auctions.

Resale for a Cooper S at the auction has been averaging between 19K and 21K. I have access to reports from Manheim which is one, if not the largest, auction houses in the states. I've been monitoring the sales results to try and find one used. The prices are so close to msrp, I decided to order mine spec'd the way I wanted for about 2K more.
BTW: my sister works for a broker.

Trust me I've had my mini for 6 months and all i've had is problems. Pluse I love japanese cars. Thats just my take.
Azzurri........2 comments since you seem to be getting unfairly toasted here by some posters....I've had my MCS for about 1 year, over 21K miles and I have had way more than my share of problems...the build quality is certainly not BMW standards which I guess I was expecting, but again I didn't pay $30K plus for it like a 3 series.
Regarding the Evo.....my experience, I was looking for a car for my son, so we took a look at the regular Lancer because of all the dealer and factory incentives. We ended up buying a slightly used Jetta 1.8T. But while at Mitsu dealership, I test drove the new Evo....and I must tell you, the Evo blew me away, it is so quick it is unfriggingbelievable....I have driven my business partner's new Z and the Evo would suck his Z up it's tailpipe.....but surprisingly I was amazed at how solid the car felt with the sport suspension and all the standard features it had....enkei alloys, 13" Brembo brakes, recaro sport seats....and regardless what some say here, the interior was damn nice and well thought out. As far as the styling, I really hate the rear wing and is it really necessary, that would have to go if I owned it, but I guess it helps aerodynamically, but it is really garish..but the styling I thought was much superior to the WRX....this car is going to put a real hurt on WRX IMO....my son thought I should have traded my MCS for it on the spot, laugh...it still doesn't handle as well as a MCS in the corners, but coming out of the corners this car is simply incredible.....and unlike the MCS that puts a smile on your face after driving it, this car will put a look of astonisment on your face after driving it....lol!
Good luck !
