My MINI left me stranded.

On the way home from work yesterday I had to do some grocery shopping. While cruising down the highway, I decided to put on my cruise control. The green light lit up on the dash, but I could not set the speed no matter what I did. I said no biggie, I will have them look at it when I go in for the next service. I get to the store and do my shopping and head out to the car. I load my groceries in the boot. I go to start the car and.... nothing . All of the lights come but no starter. It was like if you tried to start it without putting the clutch down. I call Mini Roadside assistance and they towed it and hour and half to Mini of Peabody.

Anyone else experience this?

Hopefully it will be something simple like your clutch safety switch. Don't forget if you ever get into another situation like this and you are parked in an appropriate location, you can try rolling it off to start it. Rolling it off could save you sitting in a bad neighborhood or dangerous location waiting on a tow truck.

Has a teenager I used to park my Fiat on a slight incline 1 street away from my parents house because more often than not the car would not start but started every time when I rolled down the hill and popped the clutch. You get good at it.

Sorry that happened to you. I can just imagine...long day at work, having to make that "last minute" stop at the grocery store, and then having your MINI let you down - stranded.

I hope its diagnosis and recovery are quick and pain-free.

I, too, am sorry to hear about this inconvenience! I hope it's something very little! Hope they are taking care of you!

Nice! Congratulations.. I love when things work out well.

MUCH better than the opposite, when you take it in for something simple and they find a million things that need to be fixed. :(

Anyway, congrats.
