R50/53 Road Rage BACK FIRED !!! Holy ........
Something about cute cars that pisses off SUV drivers, I guess. I remember an Expedition trying to race me on the hills of Hollywood (of all places) when I was driving our Turbo New Beetle Conv. So I took the challenge and left him several vehicles behind. While it felt so good afterwards, I can't help my heart beating so fast with combination of exhiliration and fear at the same time.

That is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know, almost the same thing happened to me! I was on the interstate yesterday, heading home and this gray-hair comes off the entrance ramp and yanks it left into my lane! I couldn’t move over because of the 18-wheeler that was passing me (boy, do they need to slow down, I think we need a new law restricting them to the right lane only).
I mean here I am, obeying the law driving in the right lane at the posted speed limit, cell phone off, no drinks in the front cabin, not smoking, fast food consumed at the rest area, hands at 10 and 2, listening to NPR and this Floridiot in a Ford Focus does not understand the concept of an “accelerate and merge” lane.
Good thing I was in my 2001 GMC Yukon 4x4, or I would have been bumped right under that 18-wheeler, but with my stout Yukon and 120 dB dual “Dixie playing” air horns I was able to blast that gray-hair back to Jersey! Of course the ash from her 120mm cig fell into her lap and caused a small fire, but she should be able to sue the Evil Tobacco companies to cover her repair expenses. I just wish she’d donate some of her award to re-plant the wild flowers and old growth white pines that were along the roadside that she drove through avoiding the homeless man that was hitchhiking to the free clinic.
Where did you guys find the little bottle of holier-than-thou water that came with your Mini? I’ve had my MCS for about 10 months and still can’t find it. There is sooooooo much rage in this post, unfortunately it’s all coming from you guys. Am I the only one that can see it?
Yes they were wrong, but to see an accident (Be involved in it?) and not render assistance is more wrong IMO. Oh, but as many have pointed out, it was a SUV and you had to get to class.
Pa-leaseeeee

May you not experience the irrational acts of SUV & p'up drivers that many here have. I've had it happen a couple times already where aggressive & dangerous driving by these insulated fools has almost caused a crash. It seems as though the MINI is perceived as a challenge to them or an opportunity to intimidate. That doesn't include the fool in the Ford van who rear-ended me, or the redneck in a Toyota SUV who actually backed into my MINI at a light ON PURPOSE! (he had just cut me off in traffic forcing me to the curb and almost rear-ended the car in front of me who was turning at an intersection) My sin - I blew the horn!?!?!?!???? Even with a witness from the car behind me, the cops would do nothing about it.
Instead of exacerbating the situation, a call to 911 to report the aggressive driving/reckless operation would've been better than evasive driving thru traffic. BTW, it is illegal to throw a missile (regardless of what it is) at a moving vehicle. Always get the tag # first then stop & call the cops.
However, after my experiences, I too feel they got what they deserved. Reckless endangerment, aggressive driving, potentially assault with a deadly weapon - and we should feel sorry for these a-holes? Thinning the herd!
Smugness & sarcasm - looks like you found your bottle!

>>Don't get me wrong...I would never wish death on anyone....but if breaking an arm or leg or something is what it takes to show someone that they are a complete and utter moron, then so be it. I bet if one of those little biotches came out of that accident with some broken ribs, she wouldn't be such a pain in the a$$ to people on the road anymore.

DITTO ON THIS COMMENT!!! We've got similar idiots here in San Jose CA that drive the same way and are rude. Not just SUV's either, family vans and huge trucks too.

*CLAP* *CLAP* *CLAP*...
Now i'd never wish injury to anyone (at least in an open forum... I don't want everyone to know that i'm evil at heart) but they got what they deserved... I've been dangerousally tailgated in my MINI before, by a mini-van. It wasn't a situation where I could change lanes to try to avoid them (because there was only the one lane), and when I went into the right hand turning lane to get into the parking lot of my (humm, is there a theme here?) college, they tossed a mcdonalds type cup at my car out the window. Or all the other times that someone behind me looks like they are going to try to get better gas mileage by putting the front end of their car in to the back end of mine, it makes me happy to see that someone people finally get their just desserts, but more importantally, without involving others.
And yes too, I did get distracted halfway down, and for a breif second wondered if you had a WOW sticker on your MINI...

Oh, and one more road rage incident to the extreme, one winter, when I worked in Buffalo (home of the bad snow plowing job) and had a '82 Toyota Turcell (sp?), I had an idiot in a pickup truck want me to pull into a parking lot so he could kick my **** because I was not accelerating fast enough for him.. hey IDIOT, when my tires are spinning because of the snow, it's kinda hard to go anywhere.

Smokey i think you underestimate the danger this mini driver was in. This could have been catastrophic. Imagine someone waving a gun at you, threatening you, and then drop the gun and shot themselves. Would you help them? I sure as hell wouldn't. You would feel different if you were the person behind the scope. Believe me.>>
But, if you mean behind the wheel of the victim vehicle. I've been there and there are many better ways to have handled this situation. After their wreck, pull over -away from the other vehicle and watch to see if they're getting out and moving around the call 911 or go to the next exit and report the whole thing. But get your side of the event out there and documented.
Without staying around they get to tell their side of the story with no worries. Based on their actions it would appear to me that will blame the Mini driver for the accident, hope they didn't get a plate number.
The real reason behind my post, (last one concerning SUV'sBTW) is that there is way too much rage against this type of vehicle. Many posts here start out as "I came out of the store and now I have a door ding......." within the next 6 posts someone will reply ........"#$!#%^#!$ F-ing SUV drivers" without anyone saying it was an SUV. How can you hate an object? I don't think it would of even mattered what kind of vehicle the idiot was in that caused this accident or someone elses door ding, but people zero in on the SUV side of the equation, not the actions of the driver which are the real problems.
And yes weaverpsu, I would have stopped, if only to poke my finger in the bullet hole to cause more pain for the SOB, you did say he dropped it didn't you?
I wasn't going to bring this up at first, but Ken&MINI may, in fact, have broken the law by leaving the scene of an accident he was "involved" in. Okay, his mini wasn't hit, but there was the thrown lipstick. I wouldn't be surprised if the police didn't press charges once his side was told, but it could raise some unfortunate questions if he goes to the police in an attempt to get the girls in more trouble.
I think those girls learned their lesson. They probably messed up their car and maybe they have some bumps and bruises to show for it, too. I don't think there is any need for further action on Ken's part.
>>girls gone wilder then ususal

>>can't they be happy just lifting their shirts?
Maybe they were trying to flash him, but became angry when he wouldn't let them catch him.

>>"Lexus jeep" <-- Awesome!!
NOT! As a Jeep driver, I get offended when everyone calls their SUV a Jeep. They are not Jeeps. The Jeep, just like the Mini, is a very unique and special vehicle and deserves the same respect. What if a competitior like Honda came out with a similar small car very much like the Mini and everyone started calling them the "those Honda minis". Would kinda **** you off, no?
Sorry, thats one of the few pet peeves I have.

If I was in that situation and did not have time to sit in front of the computer and think about it, I would have kept on driving.
A car load of ******* like that can get dangerous. If they were throwing stuff and raising hell, it is hard to tell how their rage and stupidity would have been compounded after wrecking daddys $50,000 rig and having a go at the person who they feel is at fault.
My experience with kids is the kind of people who allow thier kids to drive around in a car like that (meaning a high dollar Lexus, not an SUV) and have shitty attitudes like that usually see no wrong in thier "little girls". Chances are that the they would try to find a way to sue the other car who in their eyes hurt their "little girl".
Of course, by not stopping and reporting it, you take a lot of chances too. You are at the mercy that the little ho's:
1) Did not get you plate #
2) Do not want to admit to the MINI driver even existing.
3) Dont get the drivers that did stop to take sides with them!
The type of people we are dealing with here would likely make up a ******** story about the MINI, and the MINI driver not being forthcoming, the cops could think the worst of the MINI driver.
In the time, with the stress involved, it would be difficult to say how I would handle it.
I would not want to see anyone get killed, but a few bruises would teach them not to do it again and put someone else in danger.
BTW, Smokey is right, you people with the holier than thou attitudes toward SUV's need to get over yourself.

>>WOW!!!!! Awsome story thats excellent.. I guess you had to call the ball ( 2 miles out)!!! Yeahhhhh!!! in the female driver FACE!!!!!!!! I hope it took here hours and $$$$$ to get the Gas Guzzler out the ditch......
I agree totally! I hope they had to explain to the police and to their parents that they were too busy chasing down a MINI Cooper to safely drive their car!
I hate people who go crazy for no reason!
What's with that?
IDIOTS !

I couldn't agree with you more. I had a good conversation with a cust. of mine at Starbucks a few days ago about driving a smaller car. She was probably in her mid-50s and told me how she used to drive an old Mini and a MG. She drives a Forrester now. Anyway, she asked me if I feel a bit intimidated out on the road with all the other idiots and their Suvs. I told her no, that in fact I feel safer because of the handling of my car and the ability of the car to be able to get out of situaions safely. (don't mistake this for feeling immortal). She said the most interesting thing that to me sums up what in essence is all about driving a smaller car. She said, "It takes and intelligent person to drive a small car." I couldn't agree with her more. Not that I think that I'm menatlly gifted or anything, but I am a confident driver in my abilities and the abilities of the car. If half of the SUV drivers out there were the same way they wouldn't create so many scary situations like they did for you, and they also wouldn't drive SUVS.

wow that sucks for the SUV driver, they got what they deserve. But I hope no one was seriously hurt.
I'm always cut off by an SUV or their always like a foot behind me on the freeway. They think they own the road or something

Ha Ha!!! The b**chs deserved that... probably driving daddy's truck and learned to drive from him (most large SUV drivers drive like a-holes around here).
I'll take good brakes and handling over hauling capacity any day.
