I’m with MINI USA. For anyone who is experiencing "brown water syndrome", please know that discolored coolants will in no way compromise the cooling or anti-freeze properties, nor will the performance of your car be affected. We can lend a hand if you feel you want to make arrangements with your MINI dealership to flush and refill the system. You can let us know at 866.ASK MINI. And, of course, you can call us with any other concerns you may have. We’re happy to help.

does this mean MINI will pay for coolant change if your coolant has turned brown?
other posts have suggested that MINI has refused to do this.

When mine went murky oranage/brown, I had my friend at my local Ford dealer do a ph test. Came out just below normal all 4 times. So I had it flushed and put in Motorcraft coolant. Then the damn tank starting leaking. Then went back to BMW coolant when that fix took place. But then that's a totally different story all together.
But thanx for posting here MINIDIVISION. Good to know someone is out there listening to us complain.
Cheers,

this is the casting sand will it have any negative affects on the radiatior and cooling system?

That's the bit I wonder about....what about the sludge? Everyone debates whether the color change is a symptom of some bigger problem or whether it alters the ability of the coolant to do its job, but what about those of us who find sludge either floating or settled on the bottom of the recovery tank? Seems to me this could be a bigger problem than the color change itself and I don't think I've ever read or heard a word from MINI or MINIDivision about it.
