So I raced an F550 Maranello today...

and blew him into the weeds.
Seriously now, Folks.
I've been reading about peoples' mileage claims, and have read many for either exceptional or terrible mileage, with the disclaimer of other than stock wheel/tire combinations. It was my understanding that our ECUs would throw a CEL if we varied the tire circumference by more than a few percent.
Am I corect, or out in left field (familiar territory) again?
And for what it's worth, Emily ('02 MCS, 6-speed, Chili Red with a black hat, just turned 26,000 moles) gets around 23-26 MPG.

Thanks,
Hegira

and this has what to do with you racing a Ferrari? I'm sure he/she wasn't trying.

Oh nooooooo...
He was running WFO, and after I hit third gear, he was just a spot in my rear-view mirror.

Tire diameter has nothing to do with fault code......it would only trigger the flat tire light.

Hello out there in left field. As long as the tires are all the same size you won't have any problems.

I've run tire sets with diameters ranging from 22.7" to 25.1", and didn't even get a flat-tire light, let along a CEL. I don't see a reason for a CEL anyway, as the ABS sensors aren't tied to the ECU.

Sorry if I've caused any confusion with the F550 claim. It was said in jest, tongue-in-cheek, as a sort of ice breaker....
As far as our cars throwing a CEL due to deviating from the original tire circumference, I must be mistaken. My thinking was that the speedometer, and associated peripherals (cruise-control, trip-computer, etc.), would be thrown off.
Sheesh....

Maybe it would have been more clearly in jest if you said you blew the pants off a top fuel dragster at the dragstrip? (I knew it was in jest right away fwiw). I do agree that the wheel diameter is only likely to cause issues if they are different from each other.

It does also seem that mileage #s are all over the board (pun not intended). I typically get around 23 - 24 mpg just around town (lots o stoplights) & about 31 - 32 on the highway cruising ~65-70 mph. Those #s are just calculated based on miles per individual tank full (when pump clicks off).

Have I heard that somewhere before?

No, not recently anyway. I have a feeling that once I change up from my ride below to my Mini when it arrives I'll be in for a different type drive for sure. I'll be using so much less gas though.
