I read Miniblues comments and respect his opinion. Any others want to pipe up with any a/c comments? Any other PHX owners on the board?

Florida here. AC seems fine. Not as cold as Freon but I don't think any are.
Gets as cool as my wifes Toyota. Initially recirc and when cool switch to fresh
air flow.

I, don't roll up the windows and turn on the AC until the outside temp is over 100F. It takes about 2 miles for the car to cool down acceptable for me.

On the other hand, I think for the average person the AC is lacking for PHX like temperatures.

If you must know, I moved to PHX for the summer HEAT!! I love it. It does get a little nippy in the winter when the temps drop into the 40's. Brrr.. But I'll live with that to enjoy the spring 90s and 100s, the summer 110s and the fall 80s and 90s.

Heck.. I'm not sure why I'm worried. Everyone that knows me will confirm that I don't use the AC until the temps go over 110 degrees and even then, it's only because my wife is complaining. She's from Brazil and doesn't like AC either but hasn't acclimated to the heat here yet.

And, as a long-time Southerner, the lack of humidity makes the heat here easy to take.

Guess I'll stop worrying about it.

Got my car back a week ago after repairs from an accident in early Feb, and i have to admit, it is a bit warm. The AC doesn't seem to be pumping out at an extreme rate or terribly cold, but it seems sufficient.

Thinking about getting tinting, as I have heard it helps a great deal.

at least it's not 111 like wednesday...

I have been waiting for this topic. We aren't even to June yet and the AC "problem" has come up.

My opinion, the blower motor needs to be bigger.
When I get into my car to head home in the afternoon, the temp reads 112.
The AC is cold, but the rate or blowing power is just to weak. You really don't feel it blowing on you that well.
But I think the biggest problem is the position and shape of the ducts.

The direction pieces inside the round ducts are set back about 3/8" or more.....thus causing a directional airflow straight back. The directional pieces don't do much to direct the airflow any way but straight out.

In addition, the position of the 2 in front of the driver are right behind the steering wheel. Man, my hands can cool off, but not much gets past there.
Everyday this week, on my way home, I have put my steering wheel in a different position, and changed the direction of the air ducts.

If I tilt the steering wheel nearly all the way down, close the far right (passenger side) duct, and lean far to my right, I can feel the AC.

Limo tint helps, and my roof graphic helps. But when it is 118, and the inside of the car is around 125+, it is going to take a good 20 minutes to cool down.

But it is a dry heat..........

But tinting is necessary on any
vehicle south of the Mason Dixon line.

Nope not yet. Even took a long trip thru the Mohave Desert up and down steep grades without an apparent overheating.

We're in Texas. I think it hit close to 95 today. We have a Cooper Flags perforated sunroof cover on our sunroof and it cuts out about 30-40% of the heat. The car just seems to drag when the A/C is on so we're happy that this product cuts out some heat and allows us to keep the car cooler (and faster w/ a/c off). For $125 I think it is a great investment.

First off, I'll admit I left Phx 20 some odd years ago partly because it was getting too hot, and I grew up there. I think it's even hotter, now. I still make trips back all the time, and last summer was my break-in trip, as well. The auto air did fine, and I highly recomend it. I usually avoid AZ in all but the coolest months, but Brooksie did fine. I don't have that high temp acclimation any more, so air was a must. No complaints from me.

I'm in Las Vegas where it hit 115 last week (in some parts of town, 109 where I was) and the AC is fine by me. Takes a minute or 2 to cool down, but with the small cabin, it only takes 5 mins or so to get comfortable.
My only issue is with the bogging down in 1st gear when the AC is running. But there is another thread on that running. And I don't have the auto AC.
