I saw a very cool looking chocolate brown MINI with a black roof and mirrors riding about town today. I didn't even know this color was an option. Has anyone else seen this color? I'm not usually a big fan of brown, but this one is a cool chocolate color and actually looks really good on the MINI.

What you may have seen was the Velvet Red.
In some lighting situations it looks different colors.
Just a thought.

Haven't seen a chocolate brown, I agree with Sfiveten, you might have seen the Velvet Red. I've seen that car in the dealership and now that I think abou it, it did look brown at first than i realized it was the Celvet Red. I like it in that color but that is not offered in the S.

I think you saw the velvet red. In certain light it does look brown, especially if the body and roof are both that color.

Nope, it was a brown MINI. I saw the MINI again later today. The owner works right next to where I work. I was hanging out checking out the MINI when the owner walked up. I asked her about her car and she told me that once she got her MINI she immediately got a custom paint job. She wanted a "unique" MINI. The paint job looked fantastic. I, like many of you guys, am not a big fan of brown, but this Chocolate MINI looked sweet. No pun intended.

>>A Brown MINI? Barf!

Yeah, to go along with some fuzzy dice, a furry steering wheel wrap, a fake spare tire case mounted to the rear of the hatch and some curb feelers.

Any chance you could get a picture? I'm curious to see what a brown mini would look like. If it was the right brown it might look cool.

I'll put a camera in my car so if I see it again, I'll take a couple of shots. It is definately different!

maybe it's Hershey's next marketing plan? A little 'MINI' Hershey Kiss?

I remember when I first saw the MINI site, that the burgandy was called
"burnin' root beer" = which i LOVED. and that the INDI blue was called "Cloud 9"

i like those names better myself.

I can't wait to get my baby... i want to have the body custom painted to match my friend's dad's original 1968 Austin Martin Cooper S -- flat crayon blue.

I would be really curious to find out what the cost was for the new paint job...

Would you be willing to ask? Or would that be rude?

If I see the girl again I will ask her. She seemed pretty casual so I don't think she would care.

You could always invite her here to show off pics, discuss the paint job, have fun with our fellow members, etc... etc....
Happy Motoring.

The names were on the mini.com site back in 2000. They changed the names in early 2001. They didn't even have the USA part of the site up yet. Always been a fabulous website, which was updated quite frequently.

If you haven't already, check out the UK and AU section of the site, i'd love to purchase some of the MINI gear from the AU catalog, I'll have to see if it's available and how much to ship it to me over here on the Left coast.

what you saw WAS a velvet red MINI. I bought my wife one --black roof--for her birthday. (With that present I've earned enough points to last a lifetime!) It is a very interesting color--from a distance and indoors it does look brown. Close up in the direct sun you can detect more red in it. I don't think I've seen this color on any car before. Also, she got the rally lights and they are really cool . . .

Your wrong. It WAS brown. I didn't see it from a distance. I saw it from 6 inches away. I have also seen several red velvet MINI's at my dealership. Two different colors.
