R50/53 quick question...
quick question...
So yesterday I gave C a quick wash cuz he looked so sad, and I think I was in a bit of a hurry because the sun was going down fast and when I was drying in and around the gas cap, I think it got loose somehow. Later that night I was driving home on the freeway and my "check engine light" came on as well as the "check filler cap." When I got home, I checked the cap. Sure enough it was loose. This morning when I was driving to work, the "check engine" light was still on.
I'm guessing I have to go to the dealer to get it reset, but has this ever happened to anyone else? Or could it be a completely unrelated problem? Do I actually have to go to the dealer, or is there any other way to reset it?
wow, it took me way too long to write that....stupid beer with its stupid properties of hungover-ness

All cars today perform a random vacuum test on the fuel tank. If the cap is loose when it performs the test, it will throw the light. If you go to a local AutoZone/AAP, they should have a scanner you could use to clear the code in the parking lot, free of charge.
THANK YOU! That's what I wanted to hear. The check engine light is still on. I just took him for a drive. The check filler cap light is not tho. Good thing about Auto Zone...my uncle manages one
(dunno if that's necessarily something to brag about...)
