R50/53 Automatic Cooper "S"
I personally would LOVE to see the CVT in the 'S'. I just picked up my Blk/Blk CVT this weekend and I love it. I'm still breaking in the motor, so obviously I can't go crazy yet. But once I crack 1200 miles, I gonna let it rip.
Hey MINI, if you put the CVT in the 'S', I will BUY!!!

Ah yes,
and
I must have a small 'stick', low self esteem, and a large ego all in one... Sorry, besides the extra power (which is why I bought the MCS over an MC, Unless i feel like being stuck behind someone driving 45-50 on a road with a 55mph speed limit, i need passing power), along with the sportier 'image' that the car has.. (it makes up for the body colored grill.. ).. but if you're going to put a CVT a MCS, why bother putting the 6 speed Getrag transmission? Why not just a 5 speed, or a generic 6 speed? And why make the sport suspension, and the leather steering wheel standard? Why not make them optional so MINI can make more money? Understand? It has nothing to do against non-stick drivers, nothing against MC owners, nothing to do with the size of my 'stick', nothing to do with my low self esteem (or my texas sized ego), but the fact that an MCS is a sportier version of an MC... and offering non-sporty options is not very sporty..
Can we grow up now?

I suspect that some S drivers subconsciously confuse the cars stick with their own, or lack thereof. If you catch my drift…
It seems the great majority of 'S' drivers seem to have either very low self esteem, or an ego they size of Texas tighted up to the stick shift and the clutch pedal!!!

I would not consider the CVT to be a non-sporty option.
It is a transmission option. None of the transmissions is non-sporty in my opinion.
That would go against the basic strength of the MC and MCS.
Think of the CVT as a "sporty" clutchless manual transmission with full automatic on demand.
I would consider buying an MCS if it had a "beefy" CVT option. No stalling or idle problems please.

I have one question for current Cooper "S" owners. Would you have purchased your MINI if the CVT was offered as an transmission option from the first productiion year (2002)? I doubt that any of the current "S" owners would have not bought their car if the CVT was an option. So whats the point of being against have the CVT as an option?

Of course I still would have bought one... I also would have bought one if it came with the standard 5 speed also.. But once again, i'm saying that automatics are not 'sporty' in most peoples opinion. MCS is the sportier of two options. Let's keep the more sporty features on the MCS, and the less sporty features on a MC... Once again, why not have the regular suspension on the MCS while we are at it? But no, the sport suspension is standard, because it give the car a sportier feel, not only when you drive it, but when you buy it, because it shows that when you buy an MCS, you are buying the sport version.

i think before any talks about MCS with CVT, BMW really has to find out whether the CVT can handle all that power (plus more coz ppl will wanna mod it for sure).
I am in the group that would love to have such a car, since other family members stopped me from buying an MCS coz it came manual only, and i am dying for that supercharged power. I've always wanted to know how much power the CVT can handle and maybe i can supercharge my Cooper myself.
I read somewhere in the forum that someone races in a CVT?? (sorry for not remembering ur name). I would love u know how much power it has and what upgrades, if any, it has to be done to the CVT. I've heard rumors that CVT cannot handle more than 160hp, but i don't think its true. Hope someone can comfirm this.

MCS sales worldwide are only about 12% of total MINI Sales.....surprised they would even bother with those stats.....the MINI Diesel with the Toyota engine seems like the big market especially in Europe and Japan.....
