Anyone know or care to speculate on the costs of repairs for the Mini? Since it's a BMW, will the parts and such be pricey? Or since it's an entry level BMW, will parts be reasonable? Just like parts for integras are cheap, even tho they're an acura. My gf is concerned over future repair costs after the warranty has expired. Thanks.

My guess is they will be high. We just got a 2002 Jeep Liberty for my wife and I am getting the MINI. The insruance for the Liberity is less then the Mini. The Insurance agent said this was in part to do with the car being so new, that replacement parts will be more expensive for a while. But by the time the warranty runs out this should be less of a problem.

I agree.... just wanted to add to it....
I think with production levels moving up the way they are....
Parts will def. come down in price. I don't think that will be much of an issue. My concern is how they will handle repair work. BMW typicaly charges pretty high labor costs. I'm curious if they will carry this over to the MINI.

Hmm, hopefully prices for parts will be reasonable (preferably in the honda/toyota range) when the warranty runs out. I drive a lot tho, and will expire the warranty easily within 2 years. Anyone know how much the extended 100k mile warranty costs? As for labor, hopefully, the car isn't too difficult to work on. It looks intimidating in terms of space, but I'm not sure how they designed it. Some cars were just made to be easier to tinker with, while others not. I'm sure BMW charges a premium for their work. Tho, as popularity grows, BMW mechanics and tuners should be able to gain enough knowledge to service the cars just as well (at least I hope). I think my insurance will not be as good. I've had an accident (at the track) and a few tickets...damn my luck!

I checked out insurance on a fully loaded S this week: $663/6mos. I have one accident and I'm just under 24. Hopefully by the time I get mine, I'll be 25 and my accident will be 6mos away from being off my record. I also live in Alabama - one of the last states to require insurance, so it's a little more expensive here...higher even than Cali!!! Just thought I'd share with you everyone!

The Illinois dealership where I bought my MINI indicated their labour costs will be in the $100/hour range.
