Christmas Lights Dinner/Drive - 12/4/05

On Sunday, December 04, we will be having dinner at the Middle Road Inn (directions here) beginning at 4:00PM followed by a scenic drive to see The Celebration of Lights at Hartwood Acres.

Dinner is on you....Suggested donation at Hartwood Acres is $10/car. This is a great way to get into the holiday spirit while also helping to raise money for the Salvation Army's Project Bundle-Up, which buys winter coats for kids and the elderly.

RSVP: Please use the form on our website to RSVP, your response is needed by Dec. 2nd to assure that the restaurant can seat us together.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Can I decorate my MINI?

Sounds like fun. We should have a prize for anybody that decorates their car. Is anybody interested in doing a gift grab-bag? Say, $10-$15 dollars. And will Bill Schmidt dress as Sanny-Claus and bring goodies? After all, we've been a good club all year! Well, some of us anyway. At least I haven't sent new people off on a wild goose chase during poker runs this year!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Hope to see you for the light drive.

Middle Road Inn Website

Their website main page is up but none of the links work. (I was trying to check out the menu.) The link to the map works though. Is it safe to assume we're meeting at the restaurant? As for the scenic drive, unless there are lights along the way it will be dark when we leave the restaurant! (5:30ish?) As for the RSVP, like MINI2GO I'm still waiting on word from my wife if she's going. I expect we'll at least make the lights drive though.

Odd, when I put the links up, they were working. (I looked at the menu myself). But, they are clearly malfunctioning now.

Yes, it seems that we will be meeting at the restaurant. There really haven't been any discussions of how to meet if you choose to skip the dinner. It seems that meeting at the restaurant at 5:30 should be fine. I doubt dinner will finish much earlier than that. If so, we can make a point to linger until 5:30. If, on the other hand, dinner takes longer.... Well, then you may need to make a point of lingering yourself!

We had a very nice turnout this evening! Somewhere around 25 for dinner. A handful arrived later for the light drive (and a handful departed after dinner). I can't remember with certainty, but I think it is the best attended December event we've had - and there was snow falling as well as on the ground! (Historically, that slashes attendance quickly.)

I know I was a bit of a lout for not even driving my MINI and subsequently bailing out of the light drive. I just couldn't see going to the trouble of digging Mel out of his cozy spot in the garage to get all salty and dirty. Thanks to those who offered for me to ride with you through the light drive at Hartwood.... I just didn't feel right seeing it without Mrs. 2Go. I'll have to take her some other night when she's not so bogged down with work.

It was another fine MINI gathering to remember!

As usual, I managed to leave the house in a bit of a rush and forgot my camera. But, I did see more than a few flashing at dinner. I'm sure someone can post something....

Also, as a reminder to those that may have photos, you can submit them to tech@pittstopmini.org to have them included in the event gallery at www.pittstopmini.org.
