intro and questions
Hey all. Thought I'd post and introduce myself.
I bought an 05 S from Rasmussen last september. I love it.
I haven't really gotten involved with any groups until now because I live in Eugene. (UO student) There aren't too many Minis around here. Pity, really.
I have a few questions. First off, it would be nice to meet a few other Mini drivers. I've thought about tring to come to one of your meetings. I've had commitments during all of them so far this summer. Anybody know any groups further south? Eventually I want to start doing some track days at PIR.
I'm planning on coming up for the field meet at PIR. Any advice on what to expect/bring? I'd like to get some advice on classic Mini restoration. My friend's '83 has some issues. (Issues is an understatement at the moment -- no brakes. No worries, I'm not letting him drive.)
I'm finally breaking the seal (so to speak) on mods. H-Sport springs, FSDs, and Alta control arms. I need an alignment shop reccomendation. Hopefully in Eugene or Salem if any of you know the area. I might make it up to Portland if there's glowing reviews of a particular shop.
I just had my 10k service on wednesday. No big issues except a clicking sound in my front left wheel. I never found any rocks, so I asked them to take a look at it. Few hours later, I'm told that they're ordering a replacement for the wheel. All fine and good until later that night I'm getting into the car and notice a gash in the rim of the wheel. I'm 99% sure that it was Rasmussen and not me. (I'm paranoid about my wheels.) I wasn't told about it. I called again and asked about it. No direct response. They're already replacing the wheel under warranty, so whosever fault it is, I'm leaving it be. Anybody else had this kind of experience? I still think Rasmussen's service is top notch. I'm still just trying to decide what I think about the wheel.
Thanks, all.

Hi! Welcome! For the field meet: bring water, something to keep away the sun, a place to sit (folding chair) and cash for food/trinkets. My Rasmussen experiences have been all good, I'd call them on the wheel before too long if you're sure it was them.
PDX MINI is it for Oregon except for Oregon MINI Society--I think they are into the classics. We do meet every month, so if you can make it, we'd like to see you there! We have a very fun, diverse group of people from all over the state. I encourage you to join even if your schedule is too full to make a meeting. PDX MINI gets discounts at Rasmussen and other places... very handy when it comes to mods and parts.

hey fluidsoul,
I didn't make it to the meet, but if you haven't joined-up yet, I think you can on-line at pdxmini.org. Anyhow, we meet at Izzy's Pizza in Wilsonville this coming Wednesday the 13th at 6:00pm/6:30pm. Directions should be on the website. Always a healthy group of people there.

PS, sorry I havent been on here to see this thread!
Fluidsoul,
I would recommend a few days at an Autocross if you haven't already done a track day. The speeds are much higher at PIR and as a result the risk is higher. Autocross is a low speed road course in a parking lot around cones - they don't hurt the paint or the body if hit, unlike the walls at PIR. That's what I am doing anyway. I'll be signing up for a track day with Team Continental next spring or summer. Just thinking about running on the track gets my adrenaline flowing. Something that I think needs to be kept in check when running around a corner at 70 mph. I'm a non-S, justacooper. Hope to see you out there and if I saw you at the ABFM hello again!
