Suspension

I'm looking for a recommendation in regards to a suspension shop within the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area. I want to lower my R58.

I have a load of places to not go, haven't found a reliable cost effective place. Matrix West Side supposedly has a great MINI versed tech, but I found the pricing at that shop to be on the high side of the dealership pricing.

Many people swear by Dynasport, has a good reputation but I had a bad experience on my second visit and never went back.

I've used autobahn motorwerks in beaverton a few times. Honest, but they really didn't do aftermarket parts so much. They have a new young tech who seems more into that work, might want to give them a call. I think his name is Sean.

Good luck!

Mahalo for your reply and a jumping off point. I also can across a shop Madness Motorworks in Tigard; have you experienced their work?

I quoted a rear sway bar install with them. They were very reasonable but the guy I spoke to on the phone told me he hadn't done any 3rd gen cars so I didn't go with them. They had some really bad reviews for the on line business sales practices, I don't know specifically about the in shop work however. Probably check the Yelp reviews are very positive however. Might give them a shot on my next project. Let us know how they are if you go to them.

Call MINI of Portland, ask for a Trent. He will match independent shop prices and has the technicians and gear to get it done right.

Installed the Eibach Pro-Kit Performance Springs a week ago. changes noticed: Ride it’s a little firmer/tighter, Cornering has improved, before the installation when corning it felt more of a rolling sensation now it feels like it’s squatting down through the corner. It developed confidence to go through the corners faster. Braking improved handling while breaking hard too; were as it tended to drift during hard braking it now keeps a straighter line. All in all extremely satisfied with the improvements of the upgrade. The measured drops are Front/Rear: 1.2cm (.5")/.9cm (.4"). Measured space between fender and tire. Alignment shop was able to set the alignment to factory specs. Installation and alignment were done by:

Bavarian Autoworks and Matt’s Alignment & Brake, both shops are located in Vancouver, WA.

Mahalo to all who responded to this post.

Care to share install costs and review of shop? Looked up the Yelp on that place and it does have a few negative customer service dings.

Thanks.

Cost: Mid low $600 (tax includ'). Bavarian Autoworks: My personal experience; nothing but excellence in both work-man-ship and customer service.
Btw, I requested quotes from the following shops too: Dayna Sport, Matrix Integrated Westside, Madness Autoworks, Autobahn Motorwerks and Mini of Portland. Some of these shops told me alignment was not needed. When I spoke to Bavarian, upfront he warned me I may suffer from an increase of negative camber which would shorten tire life especially the front since there is not camber adjustment; it all depends on the amount of the drop. The shop owner also highly recommended I have a alignment done after.
