Time for summer rubbers

OK, it is time to look for summer tires for the MINIBeel.

I need suggestions. Mind you, I have winters, so don't care about "all season" BS (I interpret all-seasons as no-seasons anyhow...).

I would like a set aimed at good wet and dry traction, somewhere near economy priced as well. I have had Falken's in the past. Liked 'em. I have rolled with the run-flats as well; don't mind 'em, but they seem to give up with an early limit.

Thank you in advance for your help, folks!

BFG KDW2's. I love em! I think a few people in my local MINI club have the original KDWs and definiteyl enjoys them. They have excellent grip in the dry AND wet!!

Several PDXMINI members have the KDW's. Great tire. Only complaint I have heard about them is that they are a bit noisy, but most high performance tires are.

If you want to go real cheap I got Nexen n3000. They arn't the best in the world but they at $50 a piece. So right now that was the ticket. They seem surprisingly good for the price. Loose a bit of traction in wet, but that loss is off of a UHP summer tire so still really good. I don't notice bad road noise, but I have a megan exhaust so that may cover up the sound.

I had the KDW and found them to be extremely noisy. Will never purchase again. Like the Toyo T1R much better. If you can take the noise on the KDW, I did find them difficult to wear out.

Anytihng with Hoosier written on the side. May not last long but they are sticky!

We got a killer deal from Tire Rack on some Goodyear F1- ds-g3. I've seen may PDXMINIers wearing them. Rockerhousen had them on his car for what it's worth. I wouldn't think that he would put bad tires on his car.
We haven't had the chance to use them yet. Just put them on my wifes Cooper S, and I haven't put them on my car yet.

Excellent suggestions, all! The tire monitor started go on intermittently with the snows on... so I went to swap tires this weekend. I ended up with a set of Proxes 4's. I know... I didn't want all-seasons... we'll see how these go. They came very highly recommended after I described what was going to happen to them. The salesman seem confident they would live up to my needs. So, naturally I went out to ensure they would handle my demands. They did.

I went a little extra wide, but compensated with a little lower cross-section. They seem to hook up well (not that my car is over powered) and settle well in corners. Overall, I am happy so far. We'll see what the season brings!
