Another GTI vs MCS comparo..by a 20 y.o. enthusiast
Yeah, and if Kenchan is secure enough in his masculinity to drive a mini van when needed more power to him
It's that whole my ego is my car/feeling like 'married old farts' perspective that spawned the H2 blight
Vans serve their purpose well and do it without increased risk of rollover (and probably are less to insure), if it makes you feel better put a big rig like grill on it and call it a crossover instead
And boy, I wish I could justify a bunch of cars like that, as it is I can barely rationalize having more then one for the both of us :P

hahaha. yah, it's really not about how secure i am. when there's a task I just do it. if my son craps in his pants, then i clean it up. there's
really nothing embarrassing about it.
you have a family and you decide to drive a minivan. that's a sign of responsible parents.
and honestly my budget for my car hobby isn't that big...really nothing
compared to rich folks that have real money. im just making the best of
wat i can afford at the moment while i do my dad duties.

hopefully someday i can own a small garage in LA where i can fly out
there on a weekend and pull out my sportscar to take on the canyons.
thats where i want to be when my kids have graduated college and they're
on their own.
And by "sports car" you better mean SPORTS car..not a Miata.
and ive pretty much have 1/3 of the college savings for them so far.
depending on how much retirement fund the wife and i can save up,
i'd probably just compile my car budget that im running on right
now and put it into one car and keep it out there.

so it'll be a decent sportscar, i think.
lots of hidden costs whenyou grow up, dustin.

We all care about image and we all care about the driving experience, as is evidenced by our membership of this Forum.
FWIW, we barely got over 17 mpg in our Odyssey despite claims of upwards of 28. My wife now drives a Volvo that is safer, more stylish and gets better mileage than she ever got in the Minivan.
My big testosterone ego fulfilling crew cab 4x4 work truck with it's 6.0 litre V8 averages 16 mpg......
Well bully for you! I'm glad you not afflicted by the need to express yourself through your automobile.....
But wait - you just said, um, maybe I'm taking this out of context. "Great appeal" can mean many things - I won't jump to any conclusions.......
For handling and safety reasons - right? I mean you're not trying to make the car more stylish......plain Jane transportation Kenny, you don't need those embellishments to make you look nice do you? It's to make the car feel better about itself.......right?

you know wat i meant. i meant how the car appeals to me, not how the general public sees my car or with me in it. so you got it right
the first time. remember, i drive a civic to work and most of the people
i know (non-car buddies) only know that i have a civic.

lol... making the plain jane a little more special so dad can slighlyjustify.
Dont understand that line of reasoning from BMW. Why sell a competing car to the MINI line? Unless they have a hidden agenda
when will you guys stop fearing the MINI losing market share? When will you all understand the simple fact that MINI buyers purchase MINIs because they are MINIs. I could have bought bunch of other cars for the price once I paid for my MINI....
change quickly.
when considering most normal people only have one car for their own,
the size and limitation might be too constricting. you pull out another cool
hatch like that 1series that is bigger, also a 4dr wagon... +FR which is
usually advertised as "better" it makes them think about reality and
compromise to get something else.
never heard of a MINI enthusiast that goes from a modded HB/B to a
GTI and tell us not to worry about market share...
hidden agenda is just to sell for money and get market share in general.
