yah, i noticed you visit NAM less and less.

as you already know, i dont drive the G35C to the max. its a car
i just sitback and relax while i tour around town. so if you
came up behind me, all i would think is that you need to use the can
REAL bad and let you pass. lol

dont worry, im just joking.

wat i need to do is get a bigger house with more garage space
that will look good with porsches and more expensive cars.

Haha, I'm just joking too. Learn to never take anything I say too seriously. I'm a pretty sarcastic person and sometimes that doesnt show well online.

You still have weird purchasing habits though.

Serious question. Why isnt the MCS suitable for everyday. I am just assuming you must commute somewhere, pick up groceries, or whatever?

Same question on the G35
Here's the secret....

Ken LOVES Civics..LOVES them. He pretends the MCS and G35 are impractical daily drivers so his wife will cave and let him continue to lease Civics. Ken likes his other cars, but NOTHING will ever capture his heart like a Civic.

So how close am I Ken? j/k

G35C is fairly big and FR, nice torque down low, na motor, very smooth
relaxing ride.

MCS is tiny and FF, not much torque down low, sc, kinda choppy but
super fun to motor in.

Civic is FF, sedan with great mpg, practical, and expendable, my primary
daily driver.

Legacy is AWD, a wagon, nice cargo space, and expendable, wife's
primary car.

G35C is nothing like the others, nor is my MCS... nor is my Civic if
you asked me. why (or how) do you consider these cars similar?

i took the A3 2.0T 6spd and 3.2 DSG for a test drive the other. The 2.0T 6spd was way more fun to drive, even though it didn't have the sports suspension. the 2.0T pulled well, and the interior is way nicer then my MCS. I don't think i would trade my MCS for it, but if i was buying a car now, i might have picked the A3 over the MCS? well I don't know about the 2007 MCS?

very cute

Different POVs is what makes the world go 'round I guess willymcd - for me the Mini is the only front wheel drive I've found interesting, the quattro and linear power of the naturally aspirated 3.2 was the only A3 worthwhile to me (esp as I know about the haldex controller that you can get to change the bias on the drive wheels ). But many do really enjoy the 2.0, nothing wrong with that

im going to keep your post and review it again next year to see how
much you grow up.

but it would be a lie if i said i didn't like civics. ive had 5-6 of them
since Gen4 (current one is Gen8). expect for Gen7, i liked them all.
Gen7 was terrible as far as suspension goes...one reason why i
traded it in early for the current 06. the 06's are so refined vs
previous generations. suspension is very smooth.

but this is going to be my last civic. if im going to get another
Honda it will be an Odyesse or the new MDX for the wife when
it comes time to replace the LegacyWagon down the road.

Oh geeze, now I have to get serious....It's not that they're similar enough to be competing against one another..I just think all your cars would be considered practical daily drivers by most, rather than "toys." Even the G35, your ultimate toy, is a sporty car designed to be practical. It has a fairly roomy back seat (for this type of car) and you can even get AWD now. All four of your cars would be considered normal, common vehicles by most people. That's why I said they serve the same purpose.

If you had a Porsche or some other impractical sports car, I could understand having a Civic as the daily driver. However, I'm fairly certain that 99% of G35 owners use them as their main mode of transportation. It's not a vehicle I'd ever see someone having as a garage queen. I mean c'mon, they're ALL over the roads....almost like Camrys these days.

I still dont feel like I'm chosing the right words to make my point, but it was worth a shot.

I'm still in NH for school 'till at least the end of this semester. Our house isnt even close to finished yet anyway, so im in no rush.

When our second child was born, my wife got it into her head that she needed a Minivan. The Odysseys' were the hot ticket at the time. We traded in her Acura RL on one.

Fast forward to six months later - my E46 M3 and work truck are in the shop. I need to run some errands so I drove the Odyssey - something I rarely ever did.

I pull up to a stop light, blaring Tool from the stereo the day is warm so all of the windows are down. I look to my left and there are four attractive young ladies in a 3-series convertible next to me - top down. While trying to clandestinely ogle them, I accidentally make eye contact with the girl in the front passenger seat. With a big grin she mouths "Nice Car!". The light turns green and they speed off.

Three weeks later we sold the Odyssey and got an X5. For the first time in many years of parenting, I felt like a married old fart - and to this day I still blame the Odyssey for that feeling of mortality.

In other words Kenny, buy the MDX, no one really needs a Minivan.

i agree that the manufacturers makes these cars so they can be
borderline used as everyday cars because the majority can only afford
one car to serve their entire transportation needs. if a car only had
one shape, it will probably look like a minivan.

the only difference here is that you don't value the G or MCS as i do
because you have different taste. i happen to see these cars more in
the fun side of things rather than just a fun looking car that can sort
of do other tasks. i don't need them to do other non-fun tasks because
i have other cars that can do it better.

imho, you sound like a guy who is more brand oriented, who goes after
something because someone else said something good about them rather
than you deciding for yourself what is great for what you are looking for...
or you just don't know.

i honestly do not care what others think whether the G is a commuter
or not or if there are thousands on the road. my coupe is different because
i set it up that way. same with my MCS. how many IB/B MCS have you
seen on this site that looks like mine? not one. i don't buy something
to satisfy someone else and neither should you.

btw, G coupes do not come with AWD.... shows the ignorance...

Yeah, and if Kenchan is secure enough in his masculinity to drive a mini van when needed more power to him It's that whole my ego is my car/feeling like 'married old farts' perspective that spawned the H2 blight Vans serve their purpose well and do it without increased risk of rollover (and probably are less to insure), if it makes you feel better put a big rig like grill on it and call it a crossover instead

And boy, I wish I could justify a bunch of cars like that, as it is I can barely rationalize having more then one for the both of us :P

Nah, you're not reading me right, but there's no sense in beating a dead horse. If there's one thing I'm not, it's brand oriented. Not sure how that even fits in with this topic? I've driven a G35 coupe (whoops, I didnt realize only the sedan offers AWD), along with many more cars than the average 20 year old probably has. I buy what I like (as long as my parents approve). Also, once again, I'm 20...I see cars as "fun" only. Not sure why you'd think otherwise.

And I wouldn't say not knowing only the G sedan offered AWD is ignorance..disinterest would be more appropriate.

Singled this out for a reason.... I guess this is where we differ. Not gonna argue it any further.

I think I may take the Ken Approach in the future....

Ferrari F430 as the toy, ZO6 as the beater for the Ferarri, maybe a TT as the beater for the Z06, prolly pick up a GTI as the beater for the TT, then the trademark Civic as the beater for the GTI, and then prolly a Chevy Aveo or something as a beater for the Civic, you know..for those days that the Civic is JUST a bit too nice to take out.

Now that's a solid plan.

and once again my immaturity takes over..

hehe. actually the Odyesse is not just another minivan; also considering
the sliding doors and the utility it can bring, it's a nice vehicle to have in the
household. i dont buy cars to make myself look nice.

conclusion..
i thought about the GTI and after thinking about it a little more, i know
i was just merely trying to get something affordable with MT to take my
son around on the weekends just because i was whining that i didnt want
to take my civic or wanting to put a child seat in my MCS. i can't keep
both the GTI and MCS because i do not have any more garage or driveway
space to park 5 cars.

since my MCS is aging i thought it would be a good excuse to replace it...
but i still can't justify myself to sell the MCS just for those reasons when
its still functional and still has that great appeal to me. also, wasting
thousands on the civic early buyout is non-sense. considering the
budget for the GTI is there when i need it i decided that im going to wait
until another opportunity arises. on the civic, ill do the minor dressup
i was thinking about doing from the beginning (lowering/17" wheels) and
drive my son around in it. should be okay, dad has patience.

so, being the pioneer(?) of the 'need you buy' 'plan your want' 'unexpected
want you wait' theory, im going to hold off and see how things go.

thanks for reading.
