MCS vs SCION tC

Just like the title says. How do we match up against this fairly new contender. This car is right there with in hp and tq. What are your experiences in real life with against this car? Aside from them being a cheap car that looks good, how does it compare with our car.

Thanks for looking and lets get this thread started!!!

I have an 05 MINI and wife has an 06 Scion TC. The MINI feels like it has more tq and hp but I have not put them side by side. The ride in the TC is smoother but the MINI has a sportier feel. I don't like the feel of the clutch in the TC ( you can't feel it ) but the wife likes it. The TC is a 5 speed and I am always looking for 6th geer (reverse on the TC )

You stated it pretty well by saying it's pretty much a cheap car that looks good. The driving experience is nothing compared to a Mini.

I believe the MCS has a slight edge on straight line acceleration to the standard TC. The TC also has an optional TRD Supercharger package, but I would still say a JCW MCS would beat that also.

Of course, optimuspryme, I am talking about hypothetical drag strip racing since talking about street racing is not allowed on this site.

I think on a track the mini would have the TC by a long shot. As for in a straight away on a drag strip, Id say it would be a close one. That is saying if the drivers are both equal in ability.

It's as sporty as a Camry, just more sporty looking. And then there's this thread.

Ive seen a TC with a Turbo kit and some serious mods. He works out at my gym. Custom Lambo Orange Paint, Lambo Doors, Turbotronics kit, upgraded engine, Tein Suspension, Brembo Brake kit, and a big bottle of Nos in the back. Lots of money in it.

I have both, the tc is just a different type of car...they dont really compare. As far as straight acceleration the MCS would win, handling the MCS would win also. The way you sit in the car is way different between the 2 cars and everything else is just...well different. As for commuting and such the TC is awesome! And it really fits a younger group of people which is why we bought one for our daughter

I also have an Audi 2.0T quatro ( wifes car ) and she can launch on the mini but the mini comes on hard and by the time the mini is in second its pulling away. I got to play with a TC the other day ( Audi vs TC ) and we had 5 people in the car ( audi ) and we launched on him and stayed in front through 4th gear...lol and yes, private roads were used for this test situation. If the TC would have been a mini we would have had our A** handed to us with 5 people in the car.

I really like our TC and I would bet it will hold resale very well and will hold up in the long run as well. Its a typical Japanese car feels small but solid well thought out and very cost effective for what you get.

not really comparible to a MINI... apples and oranges.

tC... they are very well known to be a chick car around where I live..
NOT FAST at all, not even QUICK.. I had a few opportunities to play with them in straights, curves, so forth.. and oh man.. it was just too boring.. MCS pulled away HARD in EVERY SINGLE GEAR..... I heard the TRD version of tC is a fair match with MCS'... (driver's race)

Before I bought my car I was deciding between a VW Rabbit and a Scion TC, I chose the Rabbit but changed my mind and bought a MC. But the general consensus on the TC is that it's a good car for the money. I spent a little more money for the MINI because I thought it was a better looking car than the other two and it was more fun to drive (the free maintenance and a better warranty than the TC helped convince me as well).

. . . if you even have to ask the question, I'd say the SCION is for YOU!

I really like the tC, but it doesn't seem to be in the same class as the MCS. The MCS is a small sporty car, while the tC is a sporty, small car. If you understand what I'm saying.

None of the public I know. Those that do, are generally "idjits," with mullets, beer bongs, and clapped out muscle cars.
