2006 Ten Worst Automobiles

Well the last time I pointed to something from TTAC, lots of ppl didn't like what it had to say ... now TTAC has something new for everyone to not to like

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=2615

The short version

10 Aveo
9 Lincoln Mark LT
8 Saab 9-7X
7 Subaru Tribeca
6 Monte Carlo
5 H2 (hmm, even TTAC dont like H2s)
4 Aspen
3 Rendezvous
2 Jeep Compass

and the WORST 2006 car????

1 All GM Minivans

"dreadful driving dynamics, contemptible aesthetics and torturous ergonomics"

I don't have a problem that any of those cars are included on the list. They're each a big POS. But I still don't like TTAC and it wasn't just the MINI article, from what I've read on their site they try to be witty and IMO it doesn't work very well.

"... an unholy degradation of the world-famous Lincoln Mark nomenclature. ... From the ... rock-hard interior plastics to the exterior’s mega-dose of bottom-dollar spizzarkle, the Mark LT is a rolling testament to Dearborn’s short-term, suicidal reliance on bean-counted engineering"

The Monte Carlo is the worst car I've ever had the misfortune of driving.

While the H2 doesn’t come with hair plugs, it tells the world that the man behind the wheel has a small *****, or brain, or both.

+1

Fortunately I have not had the misfortune of driving any of the cars on that list. Although I did have an uninspired drive in a late-model Toyota Camry last weekend. While I would definitely not put it on a list of worst cars, it's amazing how disconnected other "normal" cars feel now that I own a MINI.

What does that mean ... your butt and back ain't sore after driving in a Camry???

Just kidding. Its all a matter of perspective. How can you not feel connected when its the tiniest car sold (well at least until 07).?

I absolutely agree. I used to think Volvo 850s had great road feel and excellent handling But I'm sure there are cars that I could drive for a while and then get into a MINI and think it felt kind of soft.

Well, if not the *worst* cars of 2006, some of these would easily qualify for the *ugliest* cars of the decade; Subaru Tribeca as an example. I mean what kind of Sake are they drinking over in Japan, anyway, to come up with that cyclops?

The Saab 9-7x? A thinly veiled makeunder of a Chevy SUV - paleeeeeeeez. I was a big Saab fan, but GM has killed Saab, IMO. Saabaru's, then Saabrolet's. What next a Saab pickup truck - the Saab-ilrado?

And the Ron-day-vooo - I mean is that thing even a motor vehicle?

The Jeep compass? I like a lot of the current Chrysler styling, but the Compass is an embarrassment.

it was created by some lab nerd who never had a girl. jk

I must say I agree with you. I am a huge fan of cheeky humor but the TTAC writers are pretty amateurish. They provide absolutely no useful information & their stuff just taint funny.

I mean one entire desciption says "The Saab 9-7X is a Chevy Trailblazer with the ignition key between the seats" 6 times. That's it just written over & over

Another describes a car's front end as a "flying vagina"

H2 gets "The Hummer H2 is a rebodied Yukotahoburbelade that’s so damn heavy the IRS will give you a tax break because you just bought a piece of commercial farm equipment" & "The chances that its owners will take it off-road are slimmer than the odds of Nicole Ritchie eating" NOT

& the Jeep Compass gets a really uninteresting tale about how Dr Frankenstein put it together

Yeehaw them shure are some humdingers

Amen! It hurts to look at the Tribeca. It reminds me of some odd, sea creature or a whale shark with that awful grill design and shape.
