The newest Jeep? Whadaya think?

I like it, not that I would buy one. We are very happy with our Nissan Titan, but this jeep looks very versatile. I've never owned a jeep product, but have heard that they can be unreliable. Hope that is not the case with this one.
Oh, and I do love that color.

Here's an article.

...and it took ONLY 10 years to develop. I had a 91 wrangler that was very happy with (owned 2 previous) and wanted to trade it for the new 1997 Jeep DAKAR("in the works"). Well I waited for 2 years and bought a Ford SVT Lightning instead. Almost 10 years later...

So when I was ready for a new vehicle I looked at Jeep again. I fell in love with the Gladiator and got the same awnser "is in the works".

Am very happy with my NEW Gladiator

Jeep a day late and MY dollar short!

Isn't that basically a Jeep Liberty (the DAKAR)?

No, the Dakar is Wrangler-based. The Liberty is a much more conventional suv. They do share some styling though.

I had a '98 Cherokee that I sold in the summer to buy my MINI. I loved my Jeep! It was great off-road, in the snow (when I lived in Flagstaff) and around the city (gas mileage wasn't too terrible). It was very practical and a great size. I've seen many on the road that are much older - they seem to run forever, but the usual stuff does need maintaining/replacing. I was very upset when they quit making the Cherokee, as I didn't want to "upgrade" to a Grand Cherokee, and don't care for the styling of the Liberty AT ALL. When it came down to it, I was either gonna get a Grand Cherokee or a MINI. I am beyond thrilled with my decision to go with the MINI, but I would consider buying a Jeep again if it suited my needs.

Here's another new one coming out this summer from Jeep - it's called the 'Compass'.

What do you guys think about this? Looks a little like a BMW X5 or X3 to my eye (except for the front grill, of course). My wife wants to sell her VW Beetle and get something a little bigger, since we have a daughter who's 7 months old.

PS - and NO I'm not selling 'Winston'.

I've had 3 Jeeps in the past. 81 CJ8, 86 CJ7, 91 Wrangler. I father has owned 1 wrangler and now a grand cherokee. My mother a wrangler and now a liberty. at one point back while i was in high school we wre a 3 wrangler family. Always loved them. They demand attention, mostly if you take them mudding on a weekly basis. Alot of fun for what they are, off road vehicles.
