Not true....that's a web site's choice....the dealer is willing to work with you on the leather seats and the radio....you do not have to have satellite if you don't want and you don't have to any of those packages on their web site, the are willing to split them up according to the dealer I went last sunday here in Miami.

 

Wow, you're acusing others of being intolerant and foolish, yet you're doing the same thing you're accusing others of. I can only hope my Mini is as reliable as my Neon was. I've owned two Neons, the first one gave me 9 1/2 trouble free years (115,000 miles), and was heavily modified as well. The Neons were definitely more reliable than the five VW's my wife and I have owned (including a GTI). I haven't had my MC long enough to form an opinion of its long term reliability. My GTI, Neons, and Mini all have had good and bad qualities. The new GTI does appear to be a nice vehicle overall, its just not for me (it weighs about 1000 lbs more than my old GTI did.....no thanks). Also, don't pass judgement on the '07 Mini yet (at least not until it is released) it makes you look a little foolish. Great things can be done with small displacement.

I have never look at JD reports when I buy a car. If you shop for a car base on that you will end up getting a corolla or a civic at the end.

I have more problems on my MINI than all of my VW and AUDI combined and I have never hated my MINI.

I don't understand why it is a big deal with 1000lbs lighter. Although, JCW MCS has 1000lbs lighter and same 200hp, but it's still runs the same 0-60 and same speed around the track.

Chip your MINI and get 10hp vs. 40hp on the GTI. If you buy a car to mod a GTI is the one to get.

I'm not a big fan of the new GTI body design, but MY FAST told me that I need one in black.

I would take a GTI for everyday driving and take a MINI for a weekend.

First of all, all cars are human made, go to technical threads here and see how many problems ppl have on their Minis. There is no problem free car. My wife drives a 2004 TDI with close to 25K, not a single problem, I owned several GTIs including highly modified VR6, did I have problems, yes, absolutely, did those problems stop me from enjoying my ride? Nope. I love Mini Coopers to death, that is the reason we are buying one for my wife, so I can get the cravings taken care of, when needed. I am not defending one over another, I am presenting the differences to those who really care, not for those including yourself that only speculate.

 

are the 5 doors coming out in a GTi form? if so, how much? im in the
market to get a low $20k car for the commute... preferrably something
that has 4 or 5 doors, not a 2 door or 3 door hatch.
