What I'll Trade The MINI For (Camaro)

Surprising, as GM is doing so poorly otherwise. It was credited to the fresh release of Corvette, Cobalt, HHR & Impala.
HA HA I never claimed chrysler was great but they are at least ORIGINAL and have the ***** to try something off the hook. Look at the crazy crap they did in the 60's. Granted they were pretty bad for the 80's but so were most cars, then again in the 90's chrysler went out on a limb and did something unique...dodge ram? And chevy has done what? Bring us a holden car? The funky ssr, hhr HA HA what is all that crap. Ford is on target with some of their new stuff.

When the car $ can only be spent on one vehicle, there are lots of apples to oranges competitions...

...we're talking about two complete opposite ends of the spectrum here.... So decide between the mustang or camaro, etc....a mini might be compared to a GTI, etc...thats all i'm saying.
Hey you're not too far away, let's go on the same day....let them have two 05 pepper white MCS's traded in for two new 2009 Camaros
And if it takes a mullet to get me one of those, then just call me Billy Ray

there's something about driving a car that far exceeds people's expectations at first glance... just like our MINIs. I think the fact that the GTO blends in well with other cars but is a HUGE WOLF in sheeps clothing is a really neat trick!
what i may consider trading in for:http://www.autoweek.com/files/specia...0/pages/01.htm
huge maybe though

One thing I still want is AWD, but I want it in a sports car not in a wagon/suv/cuv. If MINI did it I'd be all for it, apart from that I've been thinking about a next gen Audi TT Quattro, which did not show up at the auto show this year...

I agree 100% I drove the 04 GTO for 9 weeks 7k miles 78 dealerships in 11 states and no one looked my way, (well except when they eventually caught up with me

As somebody else said, when you just have one vehicle you get odd comparisons. I sold a Silverado to buy the MINI. I wanted a MINI, I didn't necessarily want a small FWD 4-cylinder car, so I wasn't category shopping and won't be next time.
I was thinkin' the other day of putting a JCW Kit on my car, and selling it for a Nissan Z. Then I decided not to. I love my MINI WAY TOO much to do that. If I would put on a JCW Dryer told me I would have a $40k used MINI, that's insane.

2009 Camaro?
GM stopped making the Camaro in 2002, because it was no longer cost effective. They were about to come out with a sweet sport wagon, based on the old Chevy Nomad (one of my top 3 favorite all-time cars), and they had two concepts before they scrapped it... Scrapped because it was going to be built on the Camaro chassis, and that factory closed down.
Well, GM is back at it, seeking already to revive the Camaro after only a few years, and in my humble opinion, many botched attempts at making a Super Sport to replace it below the Corvette.
The 2009 concept is here, and it looks awesome.

I've owned two 4th gen camaros, and traded the second for my 2005 MCS. I wonder if, in 2008/9, I'll be trading my Mini in for a Camaro.

i used to own a 1987 pontiac firebird. pretty much the same car as the camero. it is my opinion that these cars are almost hillbilly in nature, they bleed cheese. you can throw in the mustang, corvette, and charger in there too. like i said, its just my opinion. the concept does look cool but it is still a camero. the mini is classy the camero is definatly not. but its your choice, im sure if you traded you would regret it. i actually traded my first mini in for a 350Z and after 4 months sold the 350Z for another mini and dont regret it.
There's a 3 page topic thread on the next page regarding the new Camaro. Too lazy to include the link. Not to burst your bubble or anything. Just polightly stating that fact in case you didn't know, which I'm thinking you didn't.

GM basically let the F-Body Camaro/Firebird/TransAm die a slow and painful death. While they were busy churning our Tahoes, Suburbans and Hummers, GM lost interest in improving the quality, handling demeanor and safety of the F-body while letting the car get obsolete and second rate in the market. The last F-Body "major" redesign took place in 1993. So for nearly 9 years, GM didn't do squat to improve the car, make it more refined and appealing and have it better positioned to compete against the always better Mustang and other GT import cars like the Nissan 350Z.
Noticed how Ford went the opposite direction of GM in regards to their pony cars. While the Pre-2005 Mustang rode on an ancient late 1970's Fox RWD platform, Ford always tried to keep the car more "in tune" with the times. Ironically, Ford intended to kill the Mustang after the 1988 model year when they introduced the Mazda 626MX coupe based FWD '89 Ford Probe, also known in inner circles as the "Maztang". The Probe was going to be a radical change from the RWD Mustangs and Ford feared losing market share by attempting to replace it with the Probe. In the end, Ford decided to keep both the Mustang and Probe and market it them differently from each other. Today, the Ford Probe is gone and the current Ford Mustang, without a doubt, has been the best and most successful passenger car since the 1986 Ford Taurus sedan.
Given the success of Ford with the new Mustang, GM and DCX quickly went back to the drawing board to "resurrect" thier respective pony car nameplates subjected to be forgotten. Contrary to Ford, both GM and Daimler-Chrysler until as recently as 1 year ago, publicily believed that the Pony car market was officially "Dead" but Ford proved its Detroit competitors wrong with the sales success of the Mustang.
This is why last month at the NAIAS '06 autoshow, GM and DCX they each released protoypes of their upcoming Pony car releases (Camaro and Challenger) to alert Ford Motor Company that the Mustang will no longer be alone in the market place having its own feast.
We shall see if GM or DCX or both don't drop the ball from here until their pony cars are introduced.

One thing I liked about the V6 RS's, was everything they took off of Z28's to turn them into Super Sports (SS), they put on the V6... Suspension pieces mostly, but still keen.

A lot of hurdles to cross...
before we even get to see if the GM/DCS offerings realy sell in any numbers. I think the Camero died because it couldn't really do any fleet sales, and other than the die-hards, it wouldn't sell to the masses.
The Mustang still can be had in ***** out form (it's notworthy that the GT never really had the same performance as the WS6 firebird or the higher end cameros) but the 6 cyleners weren't a car that scared away mainstream buyers!
Well, I havent heard any official announcement that the Camero will be built. IF it does, let's see if GM screws it up AGAIN!
ps, when the Ford guys went to the Mustang clubs they pretty much heard from everyone "if you put a Mustang badge on THAT MAZDA I'll never buy Ford again", and ford actually listened! Imagine that!

I think the Camaro/Firebird were absolutely horrid cars to drive and with dismal build quality/comfort/safety. The only things going for the late F-bodies were the Corvette V8's and the solid RWD powertrain. Sorry but after driving a '95 Camaro (Belonged to a co-worker) a few times, I was convinced that the F-body was possible the junkiest car after the J-Body FWD compact (Cavalier).
Huge cars outside, with no legroom, cargo space or headroom inside. Cheap low rent interiors and build quality that was worst than anything Lego or Fisher Price could ever put in the market.
Oh and that horrible floor hump in the front passenger side footwell.....
