Car buried in 1957 to be dug up in 2007!
If you find any info on it, give us an update! I love when people find things underwater. Like those WWII planes found in perfect condition under some ice and that WWII tank found in a lake.

The tank's body is just a tiny bit thicker than the Plymouth's.
Contents of the time capsule, plus additional photos of the car, the inside, engine bay, contents (or the remains thereof) of the trunk, etc are in a really nice gallery at the buriedcar.com site.
Check out the capsule contents. How much things have changed... and how much they havent! Keep an eye out for the pamphlets extolling the virtues of oil.

The car was found by side scan sonar in August 2006, 45 years in the water. I believe they were looking for a recent drowning victim when they discovered the car. The car was found 600 yards from shore, upside down and buried in silt. Some personal items, bone fragments and apparently some teeth were found, enough to identify the remains as the missing men. I remember that they brought the car up, but nothing has been reported since then. No pics either, sorry.
It really doenst look that bad.
The rear of the car looks as if the rear framrails have either collapsed or pushed thru the floor, but I cant tell too well from the pics.
Remember, the car is covered in cosmoline, thats what you see, with some surface rust.
Looks extremely restorable to me.

1957 Dude. As if the shape of the combustion chamber made a difference. It is all about the vinyl upholstery, my man. Size does matter as well. You know, the fin of any 1957 car should be larger than, well, any man I know. This is as different from a MINI than it is from a steam car. . . it may well be half way . . . I bet it has push buttons for the automatic transmission! Imagine, coming on the corner, quick! push the button!
